Hi

Is this possible?

I have an M-Audio Delta 1010 soundcard with 8ins/8outs.

I run Logic 5.5 on a 2,400mhz PC.

I want to bring all the outputs (from the Delta soundcard)to an external mixer via the 8 outs, I want to then bring the stereo mix from the external mixer back into a pair of inputs on the Delta and Record the mix on two audio tracks in Logic.

I have not tried this before and to save myself a lot of anguish would like to know if its possible.

Anyone?

Hi

Anyone-got anythoughts on this?

yeah it's possible.

i've not done it with that many outputs myself, but that doesnt make any difference. I have a delta44, and i often process audio in my sequencer by routing the track to one output, passing that thru my guitar Pod, and then recording the stereo output back into a stereo input.

you may, depending on your setup, have a slight latency in the recording, but all that means is that the stereo track is just slightly late - regardless of which sequencer you use this is easily rectified by dragging it back. but, of course, this may not be an issue anyway.

there are two things that you need to bear in mind tho -

it is best to monitor the mix from the mixer itself, which i assume was your plan (That is, as opposed to monitoring the mix as it is picked up by your computer). you should make sure that the audio track you are recording to on your sequencer is muted, or routed to an unused stereo channel output of your soundcard (i can't remember if 1010 has 10i/o or 8i/o + spdif); the last thing you want is the newrecording going straight out of one of your in-use outputs, back into the mixer causing horrible feedback problems.

either make sure that the output for the recording track goes to an output pair that is not being used in this mixer configuration, or simply mute that track (disable monitoring on it).

as far as i can remember (from experience! :D) that is the only real problem that you may encounter.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.
