Attila, when you have a free time, could you add the choice to set by default
"Always begin a new line with: 4/6/12/16 bars"
for each user in the tab "Settings/Miscellanious"?

It could be a good new option to have. For musicians writing very often (or even always) in a jazzy style for example among others, it could be a very good new feature...

A new line in the to do list, Attila ? Not urgent, heh...

I think this is a fantastic idea, too!!!

Hello Attila and everyone

I don't know if it has been requested, but I'd like to have a new and very easy feature to implement:

Actually in the Note Editor when one moves a note up/down with the mouse, the pitch can be heard. Working a lot in the middle of the night so with a very reduced volume of the sound (and even sometimes no sound at all) to avoid to disturb my wife's sleep (we have only one room), I'd like to have also a (little but visible) fugitive display of the name of the note (on the notebar itself for example or flying in little characters just above the pointer of the mouse) with of course the immediate disappearance when the button of the mouse is released. This would be in my opinion easy to implement since the event is yet treated to hear the pitch.

A little symbol took within this collection
[ C, C#, D, D#, E, F, F#, G, G#, A, A#, B ]
or within this collection
[ C, D♭, D, E♭, E, F, G♭, G, A♭, A, B♭, B ]
according to the chosen scale applied to the track.

Could it be possible?

Likewise I find this feature request useful; however, I will point out it is possible to turn off the sound via the "Preview" button just above the timeline. I find this feature extremely useful for those times I burn the midnight oil .

IMO the downside to such "cheats" as indicating the note (whether in the staff or on the piano to the left) is the laziness it instills in me to not learn the notes of the scale

However, at this stage in life I am more concerned with laying down tracks.

1/2 . 1/4 even 1/8 beat snaps would really useful

Hi BlackWinny,

I promise I'll handle this as a high-priority feature. As dsan noted you can turn off note preview, in the menu above the timeline, or by pressing 'P' to toggle the preview setting.

that setting is hidden for a reason. Doh you've found it!

I remember a few years ago someone wrote me that this program was limiting his artistic freedom by not allowing chord changes between beats. That was when I added this setting.

or maybe a little box with mouse cursor while hovering the mouse on the notes.

Well, guess one of those "senior moments" got to me too.

I have been trying to figure out for the longest time how to set a new chord between beats as a "push". Had the answer all along and didn't even know it!

the new beta version is available now with this feature included. I hope your wife will sleep better. There has never been a feature that was more important than this one

(1) note symbol is shown during dragging a note,
(2) UI improvemens on the VSTi Settings page; Scan For Plug-ins implemented,
(3) GM program name is shown for each track in MIDI Import,
(4) 'New composition' default settings can be specified in the preferences,
(5) Empty beats are not removed when saving a phrase in the Phrase Editor,
(6) a bug was fixed when importing some MIDI files that resulted only one track,
(7) fixed an issue with note range in the Melody Generator in the Idea Tool,
(8) fixed a bug in the structure inspector when dragging a line to the bottom,
(9) various stability fixes.

Ah! I see that you have also fixed bugs in the MIDI import. I've just published a new alert in the "Bugs" thread, but it was with the 256b14 version. I'm gonna check out with the new version...
