That is a good point.. most (all) of the local music stores here focus on Guitars, drums, PA/lights, and bass.. probably in that order. Then there is the one shop that sells pianos and some digi keyboards (I think most are piano oriented).
There is no synth shop. The one big one locally ended up folding years ago when GC moved in to town. They had a nice selection of gear too.
Could this mean more sales for software?

I call that karma, I may like the gear from some companies but when I was in retail there some companies I would rather not ever deal with...Fender was way up on that list. This is false. For example, in the area I live with have "small stores" and they suffer from the same incompetence as GC. These shops believe that "stock" and "selection" are the same thing. BTW, this is absolutely SUICIDE for many companies that require stores like GC to buy up bulk stock nationwide.
For the one or two people it benefits, 1000's will suffer. Not to mention the workforce being depleted.
