LOGIC 9 + LOGIC Express 8+9 are still the best for me!

I went to Reaper when Mackie left Tracktion for dead. I'm using Tracktion a bit again now although there are several bugs on my system that will prevent me starting anything new in T5. If it comes through with stability though I'll likely move back to it as DAW of choice. In all honesty though I'm a happy Reaper user so don't really care which one I end up using.

MuLab.
I was looking for a DAW focused on composing (not only mixing) that is fun to use and works equally well with any musical style. (I tried Live, S1, Cubase, Reaper.) I learned hands-on by downloading the Demo Sessions. Also, the modular approach lets me 'dial-in' the sound I want (I don't like hunting for presets.) For me, MuLab is the best for "staying in the zone."

Mixcraft.
Because it's stable and user-friendly, so much so that I can spend more time working on tunes instead of learning software. YMMV, of course.

Aside from that, Reaper is my reluctant choice, and what I voted for.

If they were still available in an updated version they will certainly be on top.Orbit-50 wrote:Master Tracks Pro 5 and Opcode Studio Vision running on a Macintosh SE fully loaded with 4MB RAM and with the 20MB Hard Drive and an 8 MHz CPU. .-.

Perhaps energyXT http://www.kvraudio.com/product/energyx ... re/details
and Bidule http://www.kvraudio.com/product/bidule- ... ue/details
should have been included?

Live because it has session view which introduced a totally new way of working. Just like Cubase did in the eighties when it adapted the linear track view from tape machines. This was adapted by every other DAW and I am glad that Live session/clip launcher view is copied by so many others too including Bitwig. In fact I think there will be a time when a DAW without a kind of session view is doomed to fail.
Then: Live deals with audio fantastically and its grid based marking, editing of parameters etc, the device nesting, mega flexible drum racks – all great.
But: Bitwig is coming and it looks promising. But Push is still a strong argument to stay with Live.

energyXT is my great love... but I voted for Reaper since it's what I really use. (it's much more cpu efficient right now and has better support).
I actually wish Reaper was even more configurable than it already is so I could set it up to look and operate exactly like energyXT.

Cubase.
Was using a Yamaha hardware MIDI sequencer in '92. Saw Cubase in use in a Torvill & Dean documentary, saved up the £450 (1992 price!) for Score 2 and have been with it since - now using 7.5.1.
