Its the same card i believe minus some software. Kind of like the UAD1 Project Pak, i think. Dont have it myself but Im tempted, especially with the Virus Powercore plug.

It's a hell of a deal, that's what it is. All it doesn't have is Master x3. Frankly, if you wanted to master, you'd probably buy Master x5 anyway. Importantly, it's got all the reverbs that SoS said were worth the £1200 asking price for the firewire version alone.

Make that 1/2 of the card version and 1/3 of the Firewire version. It's not quite as dramatic as you say.lavoll wrote:it is so cheap! around 1/3 of the price the powercore used to be

Yes, but the the only plug-in that is not included in the Element card is the Master x3, which nobody uses.tee boy wrote:Its the same card i believe minus some software. Kind of like the UAD1 Project Pak, i think. Dont have it myself but Im tempted, especially with the Virus Powercore plug.
But you should be aware of this; the Powercore card does not work with the Delta sound card series.

actually it is 1/3 here.. ive seen it kost 15k kroners and now it is 5k kroners.... but thats not important.
about the delta... that has me worried, i'm using a RPC-1 card, which i think is a delta card with just a rbus connection instead.. hmm..

But RPC-1 is Roland's product, right? The Delta is from M-Audio, so you should be fine. But if your card is indeed some kind of derivative of Delta, you should forget about the Powercore. The Delta problem has been present for a few years. Apparently TC does not intend to fix the problem.

i think its more a maudio card since thats where i get the drivers from
i also see that the UAD1 card also is out in a imilar configuration and even slightly cheaper than the new powercore.. but it seems like its big selling point is the nigel rack... which excites me in a rather moderate way...

Oh, Okay. Then maybe your sound card is some kind of delta.
The selling point of UAD-1 is not the Nigel, but the vintage EQ and compressors.

I just wanted to add one thing:
I just replaced the Athlon XP 2000 in my system with the XP 3200. I don't know why but the Powercore+Delta crackling noise seems gone! (although I need to do more testing to confirm this)

The powercore element card is a real bargain
You can get the powercore card, the virus plugin and a load of good mastering plugins for less than the price of a hardware virus.
