If you use step entry or draw in the notes, how can you determine note length(8th,16th).
I saw a garageband demo at guitar center. I couldn't see a quantize grid. The guy doing the demo said there wasn't one. Can You save projects as midi files, then email them?
Thanks, Bill

I think the only way to edit noteduration is to draw them then and then stretch.

Exporting MIDI isn't possible on the iPad version. I think there's a workaround on Mac where you can export a(s) loop in .mid.

Personally I never got the hang of Garageband. You might find Nanostudio a good and cheap alternative.

Thanks Spiritos, I'd be cool with drawing in the notes if I could determine
weather I'm drawing 8th notes or 8th triplets.I'm probably getting cubasis.
I thought I'd start out with Garage band and save the $50, at first.

I have both Cubasis and Nanostudio and while I slightly prefer Cubasis because of the very clear and intuitive GUI resembling the workflow of well.. Cubase and also other DAWs, I do think Nanostudio is in many ways a very close sibling and in functionality isn't behind or anything.

What's slightly annoying in Nanostudio is when using Audiobus to record other apps you'll have to treat it as a sample, loading it in the drumkit or native synth (the latter btw. being very very good). Hopefully they'll add proper audiobus functionality or inter-app audio in the near future.

Cubasis on the other hand has one major flaw and those are the native sounds and synth (micrologue) which are far below par. Then again, if you have other iOS synths/samplers etc you can use Audiobus or even inter-app audio to record them into your project. It has to be said though that at this moment apps that support inter-app are scarce

Last difference would be the trackcount -which in Nanostudio is limited to 16 tracks.

So if you don't want to spend 50 dollars you can opt for Nanostudio which has pretty much all the functionalities Cubasis has plus some extra's (better synth), only with an arguably less attractive GUI.

Not that scarce,

From my collection of apps Cubasis recognises the following as instruments

Addictive synth
BS-16i
Crude byte grand piano
Cube synth
Drum jam
Alchemy
Z3ta
iSEM
iMini
iVCS3
Nanologue
Nave
Nlog pro
Sector
Sampletank
PPG wave mapper
Yonac Magellan
Zmores synth

And the following effects
Amplitube
Audio mastering
Audioreverb
Aufx space
Effectrix
Harmony voice
Ivcs3
Echo pad
Ivoxel
Stompbox
Voice synth
Wow

And that's just the apps I have so (despite my AAS) it's not the full selection.

Not that scarce,
You're right!

I guess I should've written that from the apps I own unfortunately most don't support IA (iMaschine/DM1/Impaktor/Figure/Sunrizer XS/Cassini/Animoog/Tachyon amogst others..)
