Like our previous popular 'Fear and Horror' set, 'Apocalyptic Visions' brings you yet more disturbing pads, insane soundscapes and creepy sound effects. We also took the liberty of expanding this collection with semi-real fantasy musical instruments, dark dubstep basses and more, to give you an even better experience. "Apocalyptic Visions" is aimed at producers of horror and sci-fi soundtracks, plus those who produce a wide variety of other genres: dark ambient, dubstep, drum & bass, psychill, future garage, IDM, industrial, and even death metal. 'Apocalyptic Visions' contains 60 patches, each with all 8 Macros assigned, plus entertaining commentary in the "comments" box for each patch. Most of the comments are fictional diary entries outlining a post-apocalyptic story to immerse you in the experience, and can help inspire song ideas. Please note that this set is in NMSV format only.

About the Producer:

Bryan 'Xenos' Lee has worked as a sound designer for such companies as Native Instruments, Cakewalk, Rob Papen Inspiration Soundware, ReFX, Camel Audio, Image-Line and many more. His work is found in several Maschine expansions and the factory presets of such synths as Z3ta 2, Alchemy, Gladiator, Punch, Toxic Biohazard, Scanned Synth Pro 2, Chipsounds, DCAM Synth Squad, D.I.V.A., etc. He is also very active in developing his own brand, Xenos Soundworks.

PERSONAL NOTES:
When I made this set, I didn't want this to just be "Fear And Horror Volume 2", so I aimed for a colder, more metallic overall sound, which is more fitting for something "post-apocalyptic" - rusted, twisted metal husks that were once buildings, cold nuclear winters, constant paranoia, etc. The addition of semi-real musical instruments also reflects what some musical tools fashioned from bits of wire and old gas cans might sound like. Check out the patch "KB Unprepared Piano". It's my personal favorite and sounds EXACTLY like a distressed, prepared grand piano!
Also, I took a unique approach with this set using the comments box in the browser section. This isn't just a pack of sounds, but one that tells bits of a story. Follow the diary entries of Joe and his father Jim as they navigate their way through a world decimated by war, famine, disease, crime and addiction. I enjoy fictional writing and thought it and sound design would mesh really well together.

I've uploaded a quick preset walkthrough "demo" by myself. Hopefully it'll give a decent idea of what's in here while we wait for the main MP3:

I've also updated the set with comments on each patch. Some of them definitely make for interesting reading, with fictional elements interwoven to immerse you in the experience.

Hmm....not one bite yet on this one. I'm definitely open to suggestions. Lots of similarities to "Fear and Horror", which was popular. Anyhow, I've lowered the price and put an intro-price special on it. It's yours for $5.95 until March 19 :).

Just bought, couldn't resist a price like that!

Unfortunately I don't use any of the softsynths that you offer presets for free with purchase...

NEXT RELEASE:

"Hardest Trap Sounds" for N.I. Massive. 64 patches. Been really getting into the Trap genre as of late. These patches are a nice mix of familiar Trap sounds and innovative ideas about where the genre could evolve in the future. I'm at 47 patches at the moment and should have the full 64 done by Monday.

Maybe a set with the name "Glory of EDM - Big, rich & famous sounds Part I" would have sold better... :P

LOL! Yeah, you definitely have a point there. Kind of a bummer because I find making sci-fi soundtrack stuff so much more entertaining and interesting than yet another EDM set.

Just out of curiosity, those of you who already picked this up...what do you think of the commentary in the Browser section? Would you say it really adds to the experience? I had a friend in real life test drive this and he said reading the commentary while playing the patches felt like playing a survival-horror video game and finding notes within the game, or collecting pages of a torn-up book and piecing it together.

Since my sets are typically priced lower than most other vendors, I've been thinking of ways to introduce a "boutique/luxury" line of sets which all offer something extra, which should get around the idea that "low price = low quality". I personally would never pay more than 15 bucks for a set of 64 patches unless it included some extra goodies.

I would not have bought an EDM themed set that's for sure.

I think I'll look into this one - just wanted to chime in and say that I bought and really liked the "Fear and Horror" -soundset. Lots of sounds I like.

It's a bit off topic, but I'll share some thoughts on that one.

Though not the most useable preset of the lot, I think a more or less fully convincing synthesized female scream speaks volumes about the skill and understanding put into the work! That is certainly something I've never heard pulled off so well before.

I know it was designed to be kind of an all-round sound set, but as a suggestion, the music box, church bell and such -type of things I personally found a bit redundant in the sound set. I mean, if you're composing for horror or create something influenced by such atmospheres, you'll usually own sampled libraries with round robins and whatnot, which are pretty much bound to sound better. They're pretty easy to come across these days as well - I've only actually bought one great music box sample set, but have come across a number of free good ones since without even trying!

It's an ambitious undertaking trying to synthesize those type of sounds, though, and other people might find uses for them, so that's just how I look at it.

Thanks a lot for the input :). I'm gonna take your advice on some future releases, since it's always nice to avoid falling into any patterns. Maybe more folks out there feel the same about certain types of patches. Personally, I like making realistic emulations as it's not only fun, but a form of "quality assurance", where the person sees that they will expect more quality work from me in the future. I should be confident enough to be able to work entirely in the abstract, knowing my new users will trust me to know exactly what I'm doing.

BTW, folks. The release is now official. I've uploaded the new demo by KVR member Satyatunes.
