Edirol PCR-1

I recently purchased Ableton Live and I'm looking for a soundcard and controller for my laptop to use with it. I will be upgrading to Live 4 and I'm very interested in the Akai MPD-16 (MPC drumpads), to have some sort of very advanced MPC, in combination with a Echo Indigo I/O soundcard. I don´t know wether I would miss having a keyboard. Another good option is to buy a Edirol PCR-1 wich is a 25 key keyboard and usb soundcard in one. It´s a lot cheaper than the Akai pads and the Echo Indigo together (I´m on a tight budget) and I have keys this way, but would these keys give me a nice control over my drums? I think the PCR-1 is better for drums than most keyboards since it has short throw keys. Can someone confirm this, does anyone have experience with this particular controller? What would you guys advice me to buy?
