I found the Anatek "PocketPedal" for $10 in a used shop. It's a little box that you insert in your midi chain:

keyboard -------> PocketPedal -------> Sound module

Then you plug any volume pedal and switch pedal into it (takes two pedals) and it'll add a variety of control messages to your MIDI stream. Powered by MIDI cable, too!

Great find for me, but long discontinued: you'll have to get lucky. :?

Yes, the Edirols have this: I just put a PCR-30 on order last night so I can have something USB powered to use in front of my PC, rather than having to turn around and roll my chair 3 feet over to reach my controller. :P I'll still most likely get a Keystation 88 though, if I like the action.

That's great, but you say that no one else is doing such thing? :o Man, now I fell like doing a USB box that you plug pedals and stuff into it. ;-) How about that, would people like that? I got all parts here, just need to find a good company here that does the "box". 8)

With so many companies doing stand-alone knob and fader boxes, it really is surprising that nobody has thought to just put a 1/4" jack in it for an expression pedal as a "foot knob"!

Actually, to make the ultimate, you could put in a few pedal jacks, a Korg-style Kaos X/Y pad, a Roland D-Beam, and a Yamaha breath controller!

Really, you could write a virtual MIDI port driver for any number of game controllers, like steering wheel and pedals! :D

Ahh, good one, I forgot that. There IS such thing, a program by Vellocet that does that, using any Joystick input. :D Thanks for reminding me that. ;-) Now I can do my own pedal using that program, here is the link.

Never tried on Windows XP, will do latter...

You can plug pretty much any pedal to the joy port, is easy to do. On the site above they have some documents about that. I know that it works, since I did it one time. I even did my own midi-knob box with 4 knobs and 8 buttons. :D All using the Joystick port, no electronic components. Just the trim-pots...

Best Regards, WilliamK
