Don't even think of doing that, even if there is no written agreement, they trust you. It is obvious that the developer is the one who has the right to publish all things Dune first...

Not at all. It ranks high as one of the most ambitiously terrible book-to-film translations ever made. And I'm not just saying that because I love the book; it simply utterly fails to capture the spirit of Frank Herbert's characters and story while simultaneously sucking as cinema. You know a production team are in over their head when they have to shove that much lazy narrated exposition into an already pretentiously bloated production. It was 1984's most prominent box office failure and considered one of the worst films of the year... for good reason. Hiring David Lynch to direct a big budget sci-fi epic made about as much sense as hiring Richard Linklater for the next Transformers movie.

On that note, back to the *good* version of Dune... by Synapse Audio!

I'm not allowed to say much about it but if you like DUNE 1, v2 takes things to a whole new level.

I listened to a demo some hours ago. Coincidentally, as it was in the same soundcloud than a demo posted somewhere else here.

I read all the Dune books too and of course watched all the movies. I liked how the scifi version actually brought new material than the previous films, yet there is still alot more material to cover and maybe they will do it soon. There was supposed to be a new movie covering the same ground as the first two films

to be released in 2012-13 but for some reason that never got made and was rescheduled or just dropped. I'd have to look at imdb to see whats going on there. Has anyone read the sons books, how do they compare?

Would be interested in hearing this to past the time while waiting if you could post a link to the thread or the soundcloud. I just hope they still plain to release before the end of this month.. but still 3 months to build presets isn't enough

But I think I they are still working on gui at same time so thats understandable.. Would be very happy to see this released soon

That's funny, I am 50 pages into the book so far. I found out about the synth Dune about 3 months ago, then, while browsing for a good sci fi book, saw Dune, and couldn't resist. Now, the question is, will Dune 2 live up to Dune the Book?

Any news on Dune 2? (Out Now!!!)
