I went and saw Kraftwerk last night at the Disney Center in LA. They played all of Autobahn and the "hits" from the other records. Great show and they sounded amazing, but I have no idea what they actually did live (if anything). They're just standing in front of tables so it's impossible to tell. tried online research and nothing I could find except equipment lists.

It appeared that one of them was actually playing a keyboard (or MIDI controller), but the rest of them looked to be turning knobs all night. At one point it looked like there may have been a ribbon controller used.

What are they doing? It's driving me nuts. Are they just standing up there while Ableton streams the show?

It's quite possible they were doing nothing. Kraftwerk have always been firmly tongue in cheek so they could be just making it obvious they're doing nothing- at least they're not trying to hide it like other 'live' acts.

kraftwerk is now only one person left: mastermind ralf hütter - if you want kraftwerk was all the while only one person. probably the old men you saw playing was him (triggering and playing some melodies). he still have his kling-klang studio in düsseldorf. maybe we will hear something new, maybe not. thats kraftwerk.

What they did? They surfing KvR while the sequencer plays the pre-recorded tracks

No idea I read they using Cubase SX and Sony Vaio laptops on stage.

yes, Ralf seemed to be the only one playing anything. he was playing the pad sounds on autobahn. i kep thinking the whole thing was either pre-recorded or entirely sequenced as there were absolutely no mistakes other than the volume of the vocoder at the beginning of the set.

that said: it sounded fabulous. my software synths sounded remarkably flat when I got home.

i looked at an equipment list and it showed NI and M-Audio on it, but didn't mention exactly what.

saw Krafrtwerk last night - what are they actually doing?
