Hey KVR,
I’m Ali from ToneDen (http://www.toneden.io).
You can check out our youtube video here:
or our feature in Hypebot here: http://www.hypebot.com/hypebot/2014/02/ ... -code.html
We've created a way for musicians and music managers to create a professional website and press kit in under 5 minutes using just their SoundCloud account. The idea is to make it easier to showcase your music and online presence to both fans and the industry.
What's unique about us?
-The websites automatically update (i.e. pull content from your FB, SC, and Twitter accounts)
-We provide you with analytics from all of your social media accounts, all in one place
-We give you the power to quickly create useful tools like One Sheets and Spotlight Landing pages, without knowing how to code
We're just getting started and are always open to new suggestions. If anyone wants a free account, you need to do two things:
1. Create an account at http://www.toneden.io/
2. Send me a message on KVR with your ToneDen URL (i.e. http://yourname.toneden.io)
I'll upgrade you for free on the spot (it’s permanent).
We'd love to hear what you guys think. We just want to make something cool and useful for our friends.

This is a great idea! Presentation is half the battle, which makes for a long battle. Creating good music is hard enough.

If your genre benefits from a resumé, a website, and a convenient way to track performance stats, then it fits. This site is kind of like a development tool where what you make is up to you.vurt wrote:is this genre specific or open to all?

You don't. But you never do. You have to trust the same way you have to hand over an email address or social networking account to create an account at soundcloud, reverbnation, paypal, amazon, iTunes, beatport, YouTube, or KVR.thecontrolcentre wrote:I' m not too keen on the idea of handing over account details and passwords for SC and FB in order to sign up. Paypal, YouTube etc have never asked for passwords to other accounts.

Ive never had to hand over my password to one service to get access to any other. There's a massive difference between having to do that and merely providing an email address.nineofkings wrote:You have to trust the same way you have to hand over an email address or social networking account to create an account at soundcloud, reverbnation, paypal, amazon, iTunes, beatport, YouTube, or KVR.
Its the same rather large difference as between giving someone my postal address for a delivery, and sending them a copy of the keys.

Hey! Just got back to this thread.vurt wrote:is this genre specific or open to all?

We're genre-agnostic in regards to who we offer the platform to! All you need is a SoundCloud account.

Not at all involved or affiliated. There's just a general paranoia about this board that consistently manifests as "looking a gift horse in the mouth."

But what if musicians don't want to use soundcloud as it offers only 128 kbit/s ? In my opinion it must be at least 160 kbit/s, 128 kbit/s is not enough.

Hey there! These are some good questions.thecontrolcentre wrote:Just checked out the site. Looks nice. I notice you are offering frer accounts there too (not just for KVR members). I' m not too keen on the idea of handing over account details and passwords for SC and FB in order to sign up. How do I know you are trustworthy?
The reason why we chose to use SoundCloud as the username and PW function for the site was for verification purposes. I.e. tokimonsta.toneden.io would only belong to TOKiMONSTA's actual SoundCloud, and not a million people trying to be her.
We ask that you link up your social media accounts for a few reasons:
1. Analytics - Part of our service involves giving you a quick snapshot of your social media stats. Syncing up your accounts makes this easier.
2. Maintenance - Your website actually pulls content from your soundcloud, facebook, and twitter accounts automatically. It's hard to do that when your accounts aren't synced up. We wanted to make ToneDen as low-maintenance as possible.
We're not some random company off the street, and have been featured in plenty of prominent dance music blogs like Dancing Astronaut, Gotta Dance Dirty, etc.
Are there any more concerns you have? Would love to answer all of them and thanks for being so interested!

As of right now we chose to use SoundCloud because it appears to be the most popular form of music hosting and sharing in the music community (artists use it, blogs embed it, people listen to it), however we are looking into integrating with other music services in the future.Melodyshine wrote:But what if musicians don't want to use soundcloud as it offers only 128 kbit/s ? Let's just say we're just getting started and that this is v1. YouTube integration is coming soon, as is a custom SoundCloud player

We figure if these large artists can trust us with their information, so can you. We aren't a "publishing" platform either, so don't ever expect us to try and post things on your accounts.
Does that help?
We definitely have a reputation to maintain and uphold
