I'm sure it is exactly as offensive to people who would take offense, yeah. I'm not excusing it. Limeypop or pommiepop doesn't have the same ring to it as Britpop, otherwise we could have been on the receiving end of nation-slurring too.
Although I find the music of a lot Britpop offensive to my snobby ears....
