On Mac at least, Bitwig + Melodyne Bridge plugin + Melodyne Editor seem to be working OK together. The editor crashed the first time the bridge was added to a project, but after that it settled down.

Audio transferred OK from Bitwig to Melodyne. Pitch correction and playback OK. It does seem to work quite as well as in (e.g.) Logic, but it's working OK AFAICT.

Peace,
Andy.
Thank you, Andy - this sounds promising!

I see some people getting annoyed with pretty basic features being left out. I would assume, and believe, there will be a 1.5 for instance before 2.0 with some more basic stuff added. Seems to me Bitwig is taking the same approach as the Renoise developers, where they build slowly - but the software is rock solid. For me, BWS allready has enough features to make life a hell of a lot better - and with some tweaking you can always get around "missing features". Crossfading, for instance, is not as important knowing that you can have multiple audiotracks playing within a track.. doesnt it? :)

6 days now! Six!

Cheers,
Klaus

Did anyone ever mention whether or not the send levels of a track can be mapped to the macros of a rack on that track, or a drum pad sends to the module of that pad?

Also are there any clever ways of recalling parameter states in Bitwig? Live has recently gotten some cool methods for these, usually involving M4L devices or sometimes in ipad controller apps.

Hopefully bit wig scripts will be able to do something like this. Very handy to be able to scap parameters back to some state when they get all mangled to hell...

I can confirm Melodyne working on the Mac (I have the plugin version and it behaves just as expected).
I reported the PC version again and hope that it's an easy fix.

Beta 12 came out this evening. It's once again mostly bugfixes, but now there are K-20 Meters in the mixer and some other nice enhancements...

Cheers,

Tom

For example, you can record 20 takes while looping a section or you can have a second version of the track with different midi notes or audio that you can switch between.
Nope.

I don't think so, but you can automate Sends and assign them to controllers.

I don't know the parameter recalling in Live (still on 8) but you can always return to a certain preset or the default values of knobs?

It's not a Live function built-in but several apps like Kapture Pad and I think touchable (or was it LiveControl) have recall settings that can be stored. Also several Maxfor Live devices have this functionality. It's a great thing.

Hmm, the k metering system, isn't that for calibrating your monitoring so that a certain spot on the meters will equal a certain volume in the room? I don't see the point of that, people aren't going to listen at a certain set volume so what does it help?

Tom,

I was looking at the sampler in BWS, does it have some of the same functionalty as the sampler in Live? Can you automate the start and end points? Or the length /decay of the sample? This is very handy stuff when it comes to percussion, and something I used a lot in Live.

Cheers!
Klaus

The purpose of the K-System is to create a repeatable, consistent listening environment to make it easier to do your mixes. Here's Bob Katz's original article explaining the idea if you are interested in all the details: http://www.aes.org/technical/documentDo ... m?docID=65

@Kmeter: That was one thing I didn't understand about k metering at first. You have to calibrate for it. Even cans (which isn't necessarily something you can do)

@1.5/2.0: Are you guys serious? I know it's hard to tell but we're talking about a product that has been "in beta" for years. I certainly hope nobody is really looking that far ahead!

Sorry Tom, one more question if you have time. When you edit audio events inside an audioclip, where you can split, reverse, chop etc.. I have not seen a video where it shows fades on each event. Please tell me there are fades?

Yeah, I think all of those.

No fades. ATM it's hard cuts only, the In and Out Fade-Buttons in the Inspector are only very short ones to prevent clicks. No overlapping audio and no fades.
I know it hurts. ;-)

Hehe, doesn't hurt at all - we can all still make very cool things :) I hope it's on the upper half of the to-do list though. And great news on the sampler! Lets rock!
