Seriously, it's simple people. If you want the music website on ToneDen, do what is required.
If you aren't willing to do what is required, then you don't get the website. It's not difficult to understand.

Actually to be honest, I am hesitant to hand my soundcloud stuff over to someone. I pay $15 a month for it...

Facebook is one thing, I don't pay for that, if someone ripped it off, I can just open a new one and tell my friends on there "hey, that account is no good, this is me, come be my friend again." Not to mention, I don't use Facebook much at all, I have it to keep up with friends that are otherwise difficult to communicate with so recollecting my 16 whole friends from facebook and migrating them to a new account: nbd.
But, my very slowly obtained 100+ followers on soundcloud is not as simple. Not to mention the hows ontop of hours of music uploaded on my soundcloud page.

IMO; the artists you listed mean nothing to me. I have never heard of them.
Secondly, you talk about being free of genres, but you mentioned that all your recognition came from "generically named dance magazine 100", doesn't sound like it's supporting your case very well.

See, while you may say you are opened to all genres, we can see websites tend to gravitate towards a specific genre if not controlled properly, i.e. is Soundcloud, with most of it's users being electronic all the "promoted" artist that appear tend to be electronic.
There was another website guy who came by some time ago promoting his website which had a good premise except that while it was supposed to be genre free, again, it had gravitated towards promoting and supporting the electronic scene more than anything else, and ultimately made me want to leave because they only seemed to have support the DANCE electronic scene, which is not me.

We figure if these large artists can trust us with their information, so can you. We aren't a "publishing" platform either, so don't ever expect us to try and post things on your accounts.

I think they are using OAuth for SoundCloud and AliToneDen doesn't realize it. If so, ToneDen doesn't know your SoundCloud password.

Look, I get the reason for apprehension, I really do. That's not the issue here. If you don't like what you have to do to get a free website through Ali (or anyone else), then just move along. It's like KVR just expects devs and service-providers will up and change everything about their plans just because a select few aren't happy about it. I love KVR, I really do, but I think it has spoiled a lot of people with the interactions with those VST developers that are overly-receptive to every single request that comes their way This forum has made people here expect that, with a little pressure, they'll get their way...

You are not the moderator of this discussion. It is totally appropriate to ask questions about things like this. The confusion appears to be coming from the ToneDen rep who appears not to understand how authentication on his site works. All of this should be explained in detail on their site.

See, the offer is that you gain access to the upgraded $5-a-month features for $0 per month.

I understand that people are concerned about their privacy. But I also understand that ToneDen is, on one level, a business. It has to maintain a relationship with its users. If a website has a user base that relies on subscriptions, and it decides to muck about with connected pages without your consent, that would hurt its business. No more subscribers. No more ToneDen. It could also be grounds for further legal action, especially in this sue-crazy country. If you're not willing to accept the role of ethics and human decency, accept the role of cash and the site's own interests in protecting the user.

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely interested, but I cannot help but be skeptical of this. As long as all questions are cleared up, then I will sign up if I agree with their business operations, but, I have been burned and heard of people on here getting burned one too many times to just jump into something sight unseen. I am also maybe not so hungry for this kind of service as some of the others who have quickly jumped in to it.

I'm skeptical of your ability, as a small business, to safeguard our passwords for these other sites. It seems to me that you would be an easy target for hackers looking to gain access to a bunch of musicians FB and SC accounts. What security precautions are you taking to keep our data safe?

I don't believe that when you sign in a service via your SoundCloud account, said service gets access to your SC credentials. It looks like it's processed the same way than when signing in a service via Google ID, which is safe.

I don't use FB but there is such a thing as FB ID, which should work in the same, safe way, given that it's the whole freaking point of those ID thingies.

I also believe that you can authorize 3rd party apps to access your tweeter account, without any more fear of being hacked for it.

Ali, all in all it would probably be best if you could just clarify all of this point by point, for the sake of avoiding further technical misunderstanding or misconceptions.

If you have a look at their site the free offer is for anyone who signs up ... that was why I asked about it. Got no answer to that one so remain "skeptical" ...

It looks that way to me too - take a look at the URL when you go to sign up with Soundcloud - it's a Soundcloud domain that you're signing up with, not giving your password to the originating site.
