Then I found the presets on kvr and added some reverb and OMFG this is a keeper.

Thanks guys for bumping this old thread it being so big and long I decided to see what all the excitement was about. Glad I did.
Thanks. And, yes, this synth definitely needs some delay or reverb on it.

Martin
...as does the original JX8P itself. Welcome to what we had to discover back in the 80s.

kujashis vangelis presets are great guys I added reverb and delay using podfarm and boy is it awesome I just finished creating about 30 some track templates and saved my faves that way.

this synth kicks charlatan or whatever ass! played today the vangelis presets with valhalla room (blade runner preset) - jesus what a great sound.. i'm ending playing "to the unknown man"
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Waiting, Martin!
:)

BTW Let me know when you have a beta Mac VST version.
I will be doing a seminar at Electro-Music 2013 Festival on Sept 6 with the topic:
Comparison of Hardware vs Software versions of Synths

Roland JX8P vs PG8X
Novation V-Station vs K-Station
Access Virus B vs Virus TDM (maybe)
Roland Alpha Juno-1 vs (a few available options out there)
Roland Juno-106 vs Juno 60 (if I have one available at the seminar)
Yamaha DX line vs NI FM8

etc

But I'll need to use a more stable setup on a Mac than using the SM-Pro VMachine to demonstrate in a host, like Ableton Live. I might have to borrow a PC laptop. :)

or it would be easier to use a Mac plugin. :)

I was looking for a free Polysynth today that was easy to get into. Tried a few (lot of good ones but not exactly what I was looking for) and finally found this one.

- great layout and pretty easy once you get the hang of it
- ultrafast to program (thx to the gui)
- great, great oscillators especially the Square wave (love it!!!)

No need for additional fx on this synth. There are already enough external ones.

Great job. It's a joy to program patches on it.

Sebastian

Interesting topic, afaik, the K-Station and the V-Station sound EXACTLY the same, as it is even the same code, translated to work on computers of course. But i guess you know that already?

Yep I did, and, no, they are not exact, but pretty darned close.
There is a slight difference at the Analog output stage.

Yep, that's what i read on an article on amazona.de too.

Here is a decent (but kinda slow) example:

BUT
Back to the original topic... The PG8X, the best JX8P emulation!
Still can't wait, even a year later.

Nice video. Yep, they sound virtually the same, the software seems to sound a bit more brilliant in the high frequencies, hard to say though, as sometimes the amplitude is not the same, and on some patches, the effects seem more wet on the software of hardware.

looks like martin is hard at work on a beta release of PG8X with new Syntheditless coding. as can be noted on his very recent entery on his FB page..... woohoo!!!

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

The reverb is different (worse) on V-Station. That said, K-Station doesn't really have a great sounding reverb either.

That doesn't bother me that much. I'd rather have a good chorus and a good and flexible delay than a reverb, in a synth.
