But I guess it wouldn't be much use in real-time without polyphonic modulators eh? So there would have to be plfo devices and penvelope devices.

Oh, there's plenty of use! Per note automation editing, Histogram editing, Polyphonic-Aftertouch to Note expressions...

Oh ya I'm sure, but I meant real-time as in playing, not editing afterwards. So for example there would need to be a poly aftertouch modulator right? Unless of course the VST already has it.dom@bitwig wrote:Oh, there's plenty of use! Per note automation editing, Histogram editing, Polyphonic-Aftertouch to Note expressions...

For starters, you can turn PA into note expressions already in the control scripts!

dom@bitwig : I don't want to be annoying, but is there something like retrospective record in Bitwig? Or is anything like it planned? It turned out it's the feature I would have missed most from Cubase. I tried different DAWs and was close to switching to Reaper, but after some time I found the lack of retrospective record utterly frustrating, so I abandoned the idea of ditching Cubase.

Not dead sure here, but I think you can just assume no. I never heard anything mentioned like that anywhere and its a big enough feature that I'm sure they would have. Also considering that there are notable exceptions from the version 1 feature set I really doubt they would prioritize this for v1 over that stuff like editable crossfades and groups and vst multiout etc.zyguli wrote:dom@bitwig : I don't want to be annoying, but is there something like retrospective record in Bitwig? Exactly, nothing for 1.0 but something we totally want to add in the future... sometimes the golden take just happens and can't be repeated with the red recording light being on.Ogopogo wrote:Not dead sure here, but I think you can just assume no. Yes you can. In fact you can slice automatically to the drum rack or multisampler, either at onsets, at a specific beat subdivision, or at audio events (ie one slice per chunk of audio).bulusglo wrote:Hi,
After doing a "split on onsets", is it possible to drag 'n drop a piece of audio into the drum rack ? (kind of Audio to Midi).

So why do you think they changed it when they brought it back? Sees like they lost the plot.whyterabbyt wrote:Ah. To pointlessly reiterate then, in Sonar its a separate window, with each Matrix row assignable to any track.kennyda wrote:I didn't phrase that clearly, I didn't meant to imply it was ever in Sonar.whyterabbyt wrote:Was it ever in the timeline in Sonar? I thought it had always been a floating window.kennyda wrote:I didn't know about that. But it's not in the timeline any more in Sonar, why is that?whyterabbyt wrote:Like Project5 had in 2005?kennyda wrote: Putting the Launcher in Arrange View, in the same orientation as the timeline, is a revolutionary stroke of genius
If it was there in Sonar at one point, you'd be better off asking a CW developer why it isnt any longer. Not that that's got much to do with Project5 have it nearly a decade ago, though. I'd hazard a guess and say that its to do with being able to assign any Matrix row to any track, including multiple rows feeding a single track. More flexible that way.

Thank you for your answer. It's good to know that you guys are at least aware of the importance of this feature. :]dom@bitwig wrote:

With other devs its like youre screaming in the dark IMHO.
exactly thats really nice! Even if it can be quite hard to follow the threads i think ( next to actualy workload ), but it`s something that makes a lot of people happy and loyal i think..
