There does not seem to be a dedicated 64-bit version and this is alos not asked in the demo installer. Anyway my 64-bit plugins seem to work.

No dedicated 64 for me either? Weird. And now it's crashed, "BitwigPluginHost64.exe has stoped working". Wow, you would have thought they'd tested it on Windows 8 64bit?

Don't panic: That just indicates that a plugin was found that doesn't work or comes with some dlls that aren't VSTs. Just close the dialog and let the scan continue. Later on, you can check which plugins are affected in the Preferences.
I think I have about 4 plugins that don't work: IK Sampletank Free and Philharmonic, Team DNR WaveDesigner and the 32 Bit Melodyne, but the latter seems to be a problem with my machine. The first three don't work in most of my hosts...
Cheers,
Tom

Used Ableton Live over 5 years. Delete it cause hate all that things with PDC and etc. Now i'm using Cockos Reaper which is great! My first words about Bitwig: This DAW not competitor even for Live and especially for Reaper.
All these blinking lights of plugins..
GUI is non usable

Some pages earlier the Devs explained about the 64 Bit version: Bitwig consists of different modules. The main loader on Windows is ATM 32 Bit and loads further 32 Bit or 64 Bit modules that do the real work depending on the system.
Quite a unique concept that basically frees you from thinking about it

Tom

Ah thanks for the info! Yeah the host stayed stable, it was scanning my VST folders. I'm currently just looking at the manual as I haven't got a clue what to do. It looks really nice so far!ThomasHelzle wrote:Don't panic: That just indicates that a plugin was found that doesn't work or comes with some dlls that aren't VSTs. The setup was good - I like the fact that I can add outputs, and choose default volumes when I add tracks. It always annoyed me on some DAWs when it adds a track at full volume.

did you add a file-system root as a library location? We have a crash-report coming in which looks like that's the cause.. Try deleting you preferences file and try restarting.digidennis wrote:Fantastic program, crashes instantly..

Yeah, that is the sandboxing - even when some non-nice plugins crash, the host stays alive. Best set the preferences to run each plugin in it's own process, then whatever plugin may be unstable doesn't drag others with it...virtualmark wrote:Ah thanks for the info! Also strange that the installer wanted to use the folder for 32-bit software.Ingonator wrote:There does not seem to be a dedicated 64-bit version and this is alos not asked in the demo installer. Anyway my 64-bit plugins seem to work.
Is the demo a 32-bit software that uses a bridge for 64-bit plugins or is it fully 64-bit?
Also from the About page in the Bitwig demo this is not obvious.
UPDATE:
Was just answered a few posts above. Nevermind...
Anyway still a bit confusing.

Are you on PC? With ASIO I had no sound to. With WASAPI it works.
