Follow Up 2:
Attilla,
I dropped back to ver. b15 and no longer have to reset port or channel when the looper is engaged.
MIDI Start/Stop/Continue also functions normally.
I still notice the lag in playback when the "Play/Record in selected timeline region" button is engaged. I thought it was the looper button earlier but it appears it is not the looper after all.
With just the loop button engaged the transport acts as it should with immediate playback.
With the "region" button engaged playback is delayed.
This behavior seems to have been carried forward in the updates.
Sorry to be the bearer of news of more bugs.

Follow Up 3:
Something has definitely crept into ver. b17. I re-installed and find:
Here are the scenarios:
MIDI In: No setting
MIDI Out:
rptMIDI (LAN)
Send MIDI Start/Stop/Continue (checked)
Send MIDI Clock (checked)
1.) With playhead set to start (1.1 on timeline) there is a delay in playback by a couple of milliseconds.
This scenario is true regardless where the playhead is positioned on the timeline.
With checkboxes empty, playback is immediate. I assume the lag in playback to be latency from the MIDI over LAN (perhaps waiting for a repsonse from second machine).
2.) Add Loop button enabled to this scenario and result the same. Timeline does not loop unless the "Region" button also enabled.
3.) With region button enabled, the timeline loops; however, there is more delay at start and even more delay to restart loop at end of timeline.
4.) Changed the MIDI In setting to Recieve MIDI Start/Start/Continue (checked) and I added a whole note chord phrase and have to reset port and channel in Live.
It appears suspect code areas are the "Region" button (just to the left of the "Loop" button), and/or, the MIDI settings selections.
I hope this easy for you to solve and also hope you will work on it another time as I realize it is late in your part of the world.
Thanks Attila!

About the "Join notes" problem related above, I confirm that it totally changes the audio result (just tried again minutes ago with the up-to-date 256b18).
I let an example in attachment.

Hello Attila
Another little funny bug concerning the GUI (in your browser, do a right click then "View image" for a better definition):

BlackWinny - this is due to the location of the "click" you made.....it is scrolling beyond those measures between.
Try using the right arrow to scroll slowly. The missing measures should then appear. I've encountered this same issue previously and was a bit disconcerting until I realized the cause. Then I had a good laugh at myself

No, dsan, you should have laughed at me...
BlackWinny is right, scrolling did not work as expected. This is fixed now.
As you realized clicking with the right mouse button will scroll half page only.
I have good news. The latency issues with looping was fixed today. This affects all (MIDI/VSTi/SF2). In addition the built-in MIDI sequencer was made ridiculously precise. Next improvement will be making playback start immediately; now 10-15 milliseconds elapse until the first note event.
Thanks,
Attila

Attila,
I may laugh WITH you but NEVER AT you!
Great news about the MIDI issues, thank you!
Is there a new beta to dl? (Although I can check just as easy
)
Any idea yet what is causing the reset issue? This scenario seems to be true in all my DAW's (Sonar X2, Live 9, Studio One 2).
I seem to lose the connection if I drop in a phrase or fiddle with the region button.
Just curious Attila - I know you will get to it as you can.
Thanks very much!

So, Attila/anyone, is this delay the reason that the first notes in the first measure don't play when using the RC plugin?musicdevelopments wrote: I have good news. Another little bug (very non-urgent!
)
Changing the content of the field "Title" (see attachment below) has no effect if made after a first "Save".
I wanted to translate it in english... I haven't been able. When I resaved then reloaded the file... the content hadn't changed.

Hmmm... hmmm... possible, possible... I'd suspect something like that...dbender wrote:So, Attila/anyone, is this delay the reason that the first notes in the first measure don't play when using the RC plugin?musicdevelopments wrote: I have good news. Yeah, me too BlackWinny, that same lightbulb of a possible connection occurred to me too. I think I remember you said you too also have the same problem using the plugin, that the first notes of the first bar that are at 1-1-0 do not play. I find that I have to select those notes and shift them to at least 1-1-03 (or a bit more) to get them to play.
And, on this topic, I'm also finding (and have reported to Attila) that even in later bars, if midi notes are adjacent (either within a bar, or bar-to-bar in adjacent bars) sometimes the second note(s) won't play, and don't play unless nudged forward a bit (or the ones just behind them are nudged or shortened a bit). Are you seeing that too?

It is exactly what i do on some compositions (when they start on a complex chord for example, the jump is obvious) so I introduce a very slight delay, starting at 1-1-03 to 1-1-05 for example... and the problem disappears.dbender wrote:I find that I have to select those notes and shift them to at least 1-1-03 (or a bit more) to get them to play.
Hmmm... ah no, that, I haven't yet seen that. But perhaps that it is because I make tunes which have often a low tempo (50-110) and not many instruments (generally 2 or 3, at worst 5 to 6), so the charge of the cpu is maybe lighter, or the code procedures have more time to process the events. I don't know... I should try with a more standard tempo (120-150) and more instruments, so as to let much less time for the events.dbender wrote:And, on this topic, I'm also finding (and have reported to Attila) that even in later bars, if midi notes are adjacent (either within a bar, or bar-to-bar in adjacent bars) sometimes the second note(s) won't play, and don't play unless nudged forward a bit (or the ones just behind them are nudged or shortened a bit). I will try.
Here is an example of what I do (a piano and two guitars, all in Sampletank 2.5 XL with the composition made in RapidComposer). As you can see, it is very simple and not perfect, not more than a hobby of a 55 years old man:

Very nice!
Is that playing straight from RC to SampleTank (i.e., not saved as a midi file that's imported into and tweaked in a DAW)?
Is ST being used as a standalone with midi piped to it from RC, or is ST being used as a VSTi in RC?

Hello!
No, no, just straight from RC to Sampletank to have 3 instances of Sampletank (1 for the piano, 1 for the strumming guitar, and 1 for the arpegging guitar). And there's no effect except a very slight little reverb on each instance (with the internal reverb of Sampletank).
And it is very simple... the same theme repeated three times.

I like your composition, BlackWinny! Really lovely!!!
In the future I would like to have a web page with full or partial songs written by RC users. I hope a few people will allow me to put their work on this page.
