how to get wasapi for windows 8?

I heard on the Reaper forum about a win 8 user, did some windows updates and it disappeared, then he went into control panel-sounds and checked "show disabled devices" and found it in there for some reason.

On my win 7 computer I just go into Reaper and it's available already.
