Any news on Dune 2? (Out Now!!!)

Yup, that's why public betas are the way to go.

What's wrong with Bitwig? Lots of bugs in it? I can't imagine there are.
Germans are known to be thorough, which may take a little longer. But they are good at it, hence so much music software comes from Germany...

Rich is a trusted developer who delivers time and again so you can't compare to a new company or expect it to be buggy at first in a which it requires a public beta to make it a successful release or more complete like bitwig. Just got to be patient and expect a good synth

but a synth is much less complex than a DAW...

But Dune is not his only product, Richard has several products to take care of, including a DAW.

It doesn't matter if it's a full blown DAW or synth, a 1.0 release is not going to be problem free no matter how much time is taken.
I think that it's fine if a developer wants to work as long as they like on a products, but if they are going to make an early public announcement, it should be a public beta. Simple as that.
Thankfully, I'm not even waiting for this as I have everything I want now, but I remember what it's like waiting for a product that was announced months to years in advance. Not fun.

Was there an announcement? I don't remember any. Announcements usually include details and launch date, but I don't remember having seen any of that. Maybe I just missed it. I got the impression that the work on Dune 2 kind of leaked...

If it was leaked, I guess that's a different story, but still I don't see how a public beta could ever be a bad thing.

If its going to be in the works for the next couple of years I'd agree any news should be release of public beta, otherwise I don't want to hear about it. Just to let you know its version 2 and most of the talk from dune 2 I've heard wasn't official just hints there working on it from the beta team, in fact I haven't heard a single official thing about it yet..
Waiting around these few months does suck however the wait Is bearable cause I know to expect the final release to be working solid and sounding good. But as far as working out bugs and the tech stuff I'd rather the beta team take care of that 'properly' before any release. I want to work with a finished polished version from the get go and not be expected to report any likely bugs I come across, especially for a synth I know nothing about or not interested in. In this case I wouldn't mind in the least though

But that doesn't necessarily make it a good thing either, name the best synths out there, omnisphere, nexus, sylenth,, etc have there been public beta's? Apart from synths from uhe I wouldn't expect too much from a synth benefiting from prolonged public betas if at first the foundation of the synth wasn't rock solid at first, in which case a public beta is more for fanbase service and earn points releasing free betas.. But on the Daw side thats another story,, hearing from bitwig being in the works for 5 plus years and the hype attached to it, to its reception to me points to failure somewhere along the way in which case a public beta would likely have worked better, from a marketing standpoint considering the hype built up they could have just released a buy now only option for first two weeks before releasing a demo and I'm sure they would have sold more on the onset, but considering the initial feeback the fallout would have been much more severedjanthonyw wrote:If it was leaked, I guess that's a different story, but still I don't see how a public beta could ever be a bad thing.
