This is not an answer to Logic Pro.

Not with only 500 copies.

Not with PPG, Attack, and DPole.

Bleh.

No links...even the Steinberg website has nothing on it yet. My guess is they will make an announcement soon and update their site.

Computer Music did something very similar with news on Live 4 before Ableton announced it officially less than a week or two later.

How did I find out...? Future Music Magazine have devoted a whole page to it (page 10) issue 150. A picture of the new Cubase SXXL box, and packaging is also included on the page this is no hoax..check the mag for yourself.

I think Steinberg were always going to struggle to compete with the Logic Pro package when it was announced.

Logic has the following...

EVP88
EVB3
EVD6

ES1
ES2
ESM
ESP
ESE

EXS24 mk II sampler
Space Designer
EVOC20 vocoder
and...

50 effect plug-ins

Some may still see Cubase SXXL as a bargain although I personally do not think there is enough in there. It is a clear attempt by Steinberg to in some way answer the rather complete package that Logic Pro offers.

I really do not think Steinberg can afford to compete plug for plug. Maybe SX3 will compete with Logic Pro 6.

Bundle deals and price cuts are really gathering pace. Great for customers! 8)

the biggest problem i have with steinberg synths and plugins is the fact that they release no updates and new features for their plugs (except halion)

just buy it and one year later the synth is discontinued from steinberg

Post

thats a pretty weak bundle. attack/ppg/dpole are worth next to nothing since waldorf closed down. at least they could have included plex and/or dcota!

Post

As long as it is not another version of Cubase/Nuendo to maintain, don't want them to spread themselves thinly in that regard.

Really? I had no idea things were that bad.

I was hoping for exactly the same thing but as I said earlier I get the feeling that Steinberg do not have the financial clout of Apple and simply cannot afford to do that. Or maybe they do not feel they have to yet. Plex and dcota would have certainly made it a more competitive package.

Sad but true...when you launch a new product and have existing or potential customers more concerned with the maintenance of existing products you know that Steinberg have done something wrong. I am sure that is exactly the type of response they were hoping to avoid.

But as many know even Nuendo apparently cannot cross fade without crackles even now! That is why many more (and rightly so) will think not another product to maintain. :?

I really think emagic have the upperhand at the minute, not only because of their attractive Logic Pro package but now they are Mac only they only have two products to maintain (express and pro). Hence we get quick and regular updates for everything.

But we are still waiting for WaveBurner on OSX

I don't care much about any of those things in the bundle. I do like Monologue, though, so I can appreciate Steinberg for giving us existing SX2 users that.

dunno - i think logic has it on the mac - but as anon pc user i aint changing

sure logic has great fx and instruments (although crap delay compensation) - but i can buy just as many good ones for the pc - but they will cost me extra i hear you cry

still probably less than paying for an overpriced mac i retort 8)

you mean the price you pay not to have a piece of sh*t for an operating system and even buggier software?

just kidding
