let's see how observant we are, we may know what the penny is for but is there a connection to this turntable?
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

afair you have to put the penny on the top of the needle to play a scratched record?! :)
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Post

Well, if your turntable isn't setup correctly, or broken, you might have taped pennies to it for balance. Can't tell what the turntable is, looks like a shure cartridge.

Post

Yeah, we used to put coins on the arm in the 70's when records jumped, or when they were stacked up, like a dansette type player.

Post

Was it the first turntable to feature some kind of built in tracking, so the penny was no longer required?
... space is the place ...

that's Abe Lincolns' personal turntable. he hated cleaning cassette machine heads.
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

The answer to this is easy.

The coin states ''IN GOD WE TRUST''
But rock LPs are the work of the devil.

Thus, the connection is Simon Cowell.

George Washingtons false teeth. Guaranteed to ensure you win at poker when you manage to stop crying while wearing them.

zen was close but I doubt it was the first. The penny was absolutely used to put weight on the cartridge on cheap junk turntables like BSR turntables

Image

that's why they put counterweights on decent turntables, to control the tracking pressure. If you need a penny plus adjust the counterweight to it's heaviest tracking pressure it's time to get a new turntable. Note the strobe lines on the platter, note the gimbal and the low mass cartridge. They most surely had a counterweight on this turntable, though hard to see it's there...so there is no connection between this turntable and what a penny was used for. The person who made this meme should have done the same google search as me :hihi:
