so you never got one of thsoe demo records they use to give out that were not solid vinyl but like plastic paper? Often they were square, I use to have one back when I was 19 from Arp because after high school my exwife worked for Arp. They had them for each synth they had with what the synth sounded like

When I finally got a Rega Planar 3 I no longer needed that faithful penny... I had to put 2p's on my old belt drive dj turntables.

I'm so poor I could never afford a penny

You need 99 of those to play the same song on an iPod?
Boo!

I would have assumed the penny is kinda heavy for that cartridge. But I never really had anything better than a 'cheap junk turntable' as in the other picture, so I wouldn't know.

I dont remember the make and model but my friend still has this turntable he bought years ago. This thing has laser tracking that reads the record before the needle and servo motors on the gimbal. The laser reads any warps or issues and the servos reacted to that keeping the exact pressure on the lp all the time. Yes this guy is that anal, he would not ever lift a needle in the middle of playing, if he put on a record he played it from beginning to end so as not to leave any stop points that cause clicks and pops. This guy today is a lead engineer for irobot and fwiw people know I say that I was brutal to LPs and I was...he would not play my albums on his turntable. I had a nice turntable from the company "Dual" (not two turntables), it had an ultra low mass tone arm and tracked at .7 grams. I bought it at a stereo show because it was displayed with one side propped up on books at like a 30°angle and it still played the record, my friend said "John I found the turntable for you" :hihi:

Back in the day that's how I learned to play guitar and I didn't want to stop to care for my records, I would stack them up on top of each other, toss them on the bed or a chair...I swear leaving record stores I heard little voices screaming from inside the bag "nooooooooooooo, dont take me away....heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp me someone please" :hihi:
