Also, some of the frustration isn't about "missing" things, it's often about how things actually work in real use, rather than the feature list on paper. I quite like the feature list and I'm ok with what's missing generally (knowing that group tracks will be coming soon and multi-out VST eventually). But what's frustrating is the workflow of several aspects, which is ironic considering they were all about little workflow things. But it's a lot of little workflow things that don't seem right. In particular VST stuff as I and many others have pointed out. But also things like no count-in for mixer view or the rather awkward sampler (sample position and looping functions). Well anyways, it will be interesting to see how they polish it and respond to users.

Let me know when YOU are releasing your own DAW! I'll be happy to give it a go

Wow ok that could belong to one of the worst arguments
You have been very helpful and I sincerely thank you for that, but it's getting over your head now, it's getting too personal for you, it's like YOU are bitwig.

WTF
300 euros, you kind of expect basic functionality and somewhat bug free software.
The mentality of the consumers and reviews has clearly changed over the past decade or two when it comes to accepting buggy software. It's a real shame.

It's difficult not to take some of the criticism personally. I've put in quite a few hours of my own time (all unpaid) helping to test Bitwig. I test plugins for a living, and have licenses for nearly every host available today, which means I'm in a pretty unique position and generally know what I'm doing.
So reading comments like "these beta testers must be f**king idiots" is not exactly fun, and basically uncalled for. That should be pretty easy to understand.
I personally think that closed beta testing was the right thing to do in this case. I'm sure public beta testing can work in some situations, but it's not appropriate for every project.
What a lot of people don't understand is how difficult beta testing is. "Oh yeah, I totally would have found that bug" is easy to say, difficult in practice. Good beta testers that actually help fix bugs are quite rare.
Peace,
Andy.

I admire Thomas exactly because of that: He is so not into
https://xkcd.com/386/
like a lot of people on forums often are, nothing is getting too personal for him - and instead getting into fights he just takes a walk in the beautiful spring weather, breathing some fresh air!
Sorry, just had to mention that...

I agree, and I think its weird that there is any kind of 'personal' talk.ZenPunkHippy wrote: So reading comments like "these beta testers must be f**king idiots" is not exactly fun, and basically uncalled for. That should be pretty easy to understand.
I dont understand why anyone would attack devs or testers, or even talk about 'feelings'.
But, at the same time, its just as weird to see defenders acting shocked, or even indignant, about the questions.
I cant imagine that a critical reaction was not anticipated.

True. Not arguing the point either way, but it's true.ZenPunkHippy wrote:So reading comments like "these beta testers must be f**king idiots" is not exactly fun, and basically uncalled for. That should be pretty easy to understand.
Andy.
Neither Altiverb nor Melodyne loaded here in BWS... at all, can't use either one, at all.
My initial reaction to that was that it was maybe (no clue) the case that either no tester had those two plugs and/or that maybe no tester had my exact release versions of those plugs... not that they just completely missed it. So I reported it along with their full release version numbers.
Perceptions always vary. Absent lack of clear facts we usually don't know if our perceptions are correct or not.
Would a public beta have caught that? Maybe.

I think this thread should now be locked. It's all about people getting pissy. You can't be helpful, you can't complain, you can't be a potential customer, you can't voice your opinion.
Just f**king lock it.
Just f**king lock it.

Just wanted to mention that 1.04 change log got posted and there were some nice improvements as well as bug fixes.
So I'm am quite pleased to see that the program is still being improved and not just into fixing bugs.
