Lawks a lordy and cripes... I have teamed up with purveyor of eclectic sample libraries, Mr Pendle Poucher esq., to create a brand new soundset for Spectrasonics Omnisphere.

Lost & Found is a collection of 150 sounds for Spectrasonics' Omnisphere.

There are various themes for this collection, but all of them are seeded in a world of broken beauty. Lost & Found is aimed at the strange and wonderful atmospherics of neo-classical; the raw and dirty sonics of dark electronica; and the celestial and heart-thumping cinematics of modern scores. One minute it is a lo-fi, grainy and grungey slap around the face, the next it is a chaotic, soaring, widescreen embrace.

Whilst designing these patches Radio Lost & Found was playing the likes of Olafur Arnalds, Ben Frost, Rhian Sheehan, Nils Frahm, Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross, Steven Price, John Murphy, plus many others.

In this soundset you will find fragile pads, damaged pianos, dusty music boxes, grubby basses, electro-acoustic rhythms and dystopian soundscapes from the ether.

Lost & Found is a wonderful new toolbox of sounds. Perfect for film and beyond, dark and evocative… I’ve used it since the day it arrived. - Paul Haslinger, Composer (Underworld, Crank, Tangerine Dream)

All that is dusty, dark and dynamic can be discovered in Lost & Found.

Omnisphere Lost & Found is available for £24.99. However, if you're on my mailing list, you will have received a discount code in your inbox. :)

Why not take a watch of my walkthrough video?

Alternatively, you can listen to many demo tracks by assorted talented types.

Or you could go quite mad and do both!

Way, way too much use of compressors. Sound after sound I tried were pumping in a really obvious way :( For example, just about every keyboard sound is loaded with 10 or 12 effects including two compressors and I can hear them on every one.

Some sounds have three compressors and the ratios seems always to be set at 10:1 every time. The pumping really is awful on sound after sound.

Then there's the "tape slammer" effect which I see on most of the sounds I'm looking at (is it on every one?). In fact most sounds seems to be constructed primarily from effects rather a more interesting selection of sound source and filters. This also makes it harder to tweak the sounds since the more usual synth and sound source controls are not what is creating the majority of the sound. Instead you have to go into the three sections of effects.

I have just about every Omni preset bank out there and sad to say that in my opinion this is not one of the good ones. Personally I'd recommend looking at Audiority or Plughugger sets instead. Plughugger especially know how to program compressors.

Hey Spirit, thanks for your feedback.

Obviously we can't please everybody all of the time. Yes, there is a lot of compressor use in this soundset, it is very much part of the vibe we were trying to achieve. It is an unusual vibe and possibly not to everybody's taste. But that's why we make sure there are plenty of demo tracks showcasing the sounds, provide free demo patches to try out and a comprehensive walkthrough video, so potential customers can be clear in what they're purchasing.

We've also had lots of good feedback from those who have bought it. Even had some say it's the best The Unfinished soundset yet, so... different strokes and all that.

Sorry you haven't enjoyed it.

All the best.

Matt you beat me too it.
I was going to say pretty much the same thing.
And just to make sure there is absolutely no doubt about what you are letting yourselves in for with this patch set, here is another video walkthrough which positively revels in the "wrongness" of what we have done : )

cheers

Sure, I suppose some people just love loads of pumping compressors, it's common enough in popular music these days after all. And I agree, you certainly put lots of your effort into the demo tracks.
