Are you back on the crack?LawrenceF wrote:Before I leave this thread and BWS alone for good, one final comment.
I have no intention of buying Bitwig Studio. What it does best isn't targeted towards anything I actually do or even need to do, so even though I can clearly see the vision, I have no particular practical use for it. Most of my non-linear needs (which are very few) are covered by FLS Fruity Edition, so I'm all good there.
Having said that ...
No intention of buying the bigwig?
And you post this in a bigwit thread?
Meine gut got.
If you aren't back on the crack, it's time to get in contact again. This is a bigwit thread mate. Cat pics, slagging off Charlie or, wait a minute, am I having a kind of auditory hallucination? Did you just say you were using Fruity Loops? Are you the same dude that used to use Studio One?
Name of your dealer, now!

Yes they did mostly. Except for rare situations where the latency is crazy long, like seconds delayed. And I think there may still be an issue with effect channels (sends). There's more info in the Bitwig forum about it, but I stopped paying attention once I confirmed that any uses cases I'd encounter was fixed.maxwelldub wrote:there's a whole lot of pussy in this thread :p

You're technically confusing PDC (plugin delay compensation) with the function "low latency mode" (logic) / "playthrough optimization" (live) etc. etc. which basically turns pdc OFF for the very track you're playing the softsynth in. This is not PDC, but another function, which is actually very useful and on the wishlist for future updates.
Bye!

To be honest, I didn't realize that Bitwig delayed all tracks for real-time playing/recording regardless of what plug-ins were on that track. I just assumed that a track with latency would not prevent real-time low latency recording of another track. I thought all DAWs took care of this. Oops. Hadn't tested that scenario since I'm used to that working (even in Live). Another one for the wishlist. I'm sure they'll get to it.

The ability to make music with various music apps goes without question. This thread poses a specific question/discussion... specifically about Bitwig information and speculation.BasariStudios wrote:Lol...even by todays standards...Bitwig, Live and Fruity Loops i find funny...oh yes..i know...DeadMau5 uses some of them...does he make music...? Based on the responses i read i won't call it better then Live or FL, even though i never tried it and its not fair from me...just reading what people say...and if its not better then the 2 mentioned...then, i can't even imagine how good it is. As for making music, you are right about it...i said it out of sarcasm.

I certainly never want to be critical, but I have not used enough plugins on a single track in conjunction with other tracks that have a high effect count to notice this difference. Maybe I, despite being somewhat young, am really oldschool with my approach. I rarely do things in a software environment that I couldn't do in a hardware environment other than midi note editing, and some audio edits. Effects are just like I would have in a hardware studio.
So I might have 20 tracks of audio and 10 soft synths, with about 8-10 effects TOTAL for the whole project. If I can't get the desired sound with the soft synth and an EQ I am an idiot and need to learn my tools a bit better.
Credentials aside these lengthy chain of effects that create huge latency are lost on me.
