As long as Omni refuses to implement Sample Import, It is headed to the once-great-now-dated pile. I put more hope into what Eric is planning next than what seems to be a product ride.
Unless of course, his plan is to sell and retire. ;)

It reminds me of my old ProteusFX or DPMV3 in that regard.
Your Proteus had Groove Lock, a graphical mod matrix, a granular engine, an algorithmically controlled parameter morphing engine with a physics based X/Y controller, dozens of filter types with series/parallel routing and bone simple modulation, morphing modulation capabilities, a ten layer detuning engine that allows different waveforms per layer...?

Do you actually own Ominisphere or are you just pissing up a rope?
Yes, the proteus had depth and still had enough simple operations to get good quick results from. Much like what I believe Omni has.
And if you're reading my posts you know I don't own Omni but have been going around looking for Trilian and Omni to dig into since Eric assured me that all their stores could and would accommodate me in that regard. (And it's not as easy as Eric said), but I have been able to get a few hours on it now (Omni, NOT Trilian). I do own Atmosphere though and we really don't want to get into that discussion. I'm the one trying to keep an open mind toward Omni, but I have to wonder why when these threads come along and seem to imply a neuro-wipe for loyality is a system requirement to own it.

Pot, meet kettle.

You are the main reason this is becoming a pissing thread. But I applaud your latest self-entertainment angle. I hope it gives you the satisfaction you seek in life.

This is a more reasonable post, and really the first one you've made.

I'm telling you, you are stirring up shite on this issue. But, hey, don't let me rain on your parade. It's just an internet forum...have fun with it! :)

BTW, don't bother with Omni---you've already conditioned yourself for inevitable disappointment.

Trilian, as far as I know since I don't own it, is very, very good, but it is also closed architecture so if you are used to using Kontakt, I'd skip that too.

I´ve always been interested by Omni, but having only a boxed version available, no sample import and not having a demo version to try before spitting $500 always pulled me off and each times I gave up buying it... Camel Audio had my money instead

Post

Deja vu-thread with exactly the same comments as we've read in all these other Omni-threads before.
EDIT: but to be fair, the thread intro is pretty funny :)

I'll just put it all to rest right here and now. Anyone who is intrigued but not really sure one way or the other:

DO NOT BUY OMNISPHERE!!!

There, clear enough?

I'm coming around from the other side. Trilian seems to be the next thing that might give me the playibility of bass guitars I'm looking for. Omni becomes an addition to it rather than the other way around.
Never trying to stir anything with this topic. It just seems that asking questions and stating observations stirs something in the owners that cause a rift in their bubble. Fortunately, not all Omni owners are like that. If they were, I would have just written off the whole product and customer base as some cult to avoid.
Because Spectra makes it difficult to demo and just throws the idea of 'taking a blind leap of faith' everywhere, it makes it especially challenging for those of us that want to make a rational decision of whether to purchase or not.

So many times, these threads come across as just a commercial.
BTW, where is the OP in all this? :hihi:

The last v/g I played was Skyrim so I'm not sure of the reference but I can probably piece it together.

I'm just sick of seeing these ridiculous threads. This is Gearslutz quality stuff here.

Fact # 1: Omnisphere is very expensive at full retail, and is even expensive on sale. And you can't buy it used unless you go to Eric Persing's house and beg, then mow his lawn and weed out his petunia bed.

Fact # 2: Omnisphere is not heaven on Earth. It is not Nirvana. It will not get you a date with Miley Cyrus that is really just for sex and that you can deny ever happened. It doesn't import samples and it doesn't play Giga libraries from 2002.

Fact #3: Omnisphere IS a well conceived and versatile product and it is probably best suited for people who do very eclectic work, like television and film, and who ALREADY have Kontakt and many bread and butter libraries but just want something special that has its own character and many presets and options to give them opportunities to add extra character to a wide range of projects.

Fact #4: I am a big fan of Firefly so I'm definitely not a supporter of the Alliance. :)

Ha! I made the correlation long ago in another thread bearing a similar title. But in that one Spectrasonics is the Horde and Native Instruments is the Alliance.

This is one of the regular 'raids' that cycle through from the Horde.

Post

Then in Wow I'm a proud Horde and I don't mind having Spectrasonics as Horde as well. :hihi:

Maybe OP has a better life so he is not being used up in KVR or Wow. :ud:

Native Instruments has made my life a much better experience and for that I will always love them in spite of the fact that their website and authorization process is a pain sometimes, so I can't be either.

I'm a guy in Skyrim with leather armor and 50 gold pieces.

Is that good or bad?
