The included Midi Studio is again based on Logic Audio with all its problems with new VSTis which often doesn´t support Logic anymore. Magix would better have gone new ways.

Yeah...you say it...and "2005" again a fake. Seems to be the same as "2004" released in Europe. For me still no reason to update my 2003. :D

But its got the Robota !!!!!!! what more could you need. Still Audio studio is a bargain multitrack editor for those of us who cant afford Samplitude

Theres also download version of just the Audiostudio which has a few extra instruments. What the hell "Reduced graphic resolution" means exactly I dont know otherwise Id get it. A bargain at 30 quid

Musicmaker is a better bet as a host though now that you can use VSTi and automate them. I wonder if its based on samplitudes engine. Even comes with a video effects app.

...yep....but for me nothing was added up to now what makes an update attractive. But generally the "audio studio" as a samplitude for poor is very good. agreed.

How does 2005 compare to Cubase SE or Cakewalk Home Studio 2004?

Post

Hi

I have kept my eye on the Magix range for a while - being a Logic pc user I will have to change one day and to be honest it looks (to me) like quite a bargain, and it continues to develop - it has track automation and accepts vst's now.

I would like to check out a demo if one becomes avalible.

The only 2 things that standout as nice additions to 2005 are the addition of 6 more instrument tracks and the track freezing ability. I'm not sure this warrants the upgrade price of $69, seems a little steep for so little IMO. I mainly use it to cut up and arrange the MIDI portion of my tracks. I had asked them directly about offering a 24 bit version at an increased price, and I was told they had tried that once but had stability issues.

Hey no sarcasm intended but I'll check this out when my local Best Buy gets it's copy. They usually price it around 60 bucks. I like the included instruments just not logic or the mixer but for the price it's pretty unstoppable. My real question is how much the blockfish guy had to do with it? He's frickin awesome and so is his gear. :D

The name of the application makes my skin crawl. I could never use something that dorky sounding. Sounds like a Summer-time Hollwood Blockbuster title with boatloads of glitz & glamour & zero content.

Then again, I use Orion Platinum, how dorky is that name?

Your joking,right?

Post

Anf, I saw your post on the magix forums. I don't think it is stability; more like a marketing issue.

Dang I couldnt resist, and they had a €10 off deal too which disappeared shortly after Id ordered :P

I think some features are a but difficult to guage as its not really clear if theyre in the midi or audio studio.

For what its worth I read that midi studio can open logic environments and the synths can load presets files from the logic instruments

Magix MS had track automation (no hyperdraw in the arrange window, but inside the drum/CC-editor) and VST-integration since already 3 years or so.
There is a demo on the german Magix website (called MS 2004 but it´s the same as the english 2005 version).

There is only VSTfx freezing in the audio studio, but no VSTi/fx freezing in the MidiStudio.
