A big KVR pat on the back, as well as a request.

Despite my number of posts, I have been coming here for a very long time. I just recently got up the gumption to start posting and actually become part of the community.
THE PAT ON THE BACK:
I still can not believe how wonderful this community is. Everyone here seems to know their stuff, from composition, to mastering, to computers...etc. And add to that YOU'RE ALL SO NICE. You freely discuss your likes and dislikes, and aside from the flame wars here and there, everyone pretty much accepts everyone else's opinions. Most people have something intelligent to say, and for some reason any occasional bad eggs seem to disappear.
Another thing I love is that so many of you are making such different music, yet the focus still remains on the love of the tools that get you there. What I mean is this isn't a genre oriented site. I like that I can discuss how cool Trilogy is with a "metal guy" even though I'm not (Don't make it anyway, do enjoy it though). Go to futureproducers.com to see exactly the opposite, not that it's necessarily a bad site, just very genre oriented, and lots of gangsta kiddies showing their age.
Also, the fact that so many fantastic developers either post, or have their own forums here is unbelievable. It's like being "connected" without even really "knowing" anybody.
In short this is THE BEST community I've ever stumbled into, and you all help make it that.
THE REQUEST:
What originally brought me here was a google search on reviews for a soft synth (can't remember which one). Dumb luck really. Then I saw that there were reviews for many more instruments. Ones I knew of, and others I'd never heard of. Obviously I found the forums as well. The review section is what I'm targeting in this humble request.
It was fantastic to find the reviews of these instruments from actual people. There is nothing in the world like a review or recommendation from your own peers with your same interests. BUT, for the total number of people that are members here (evident by how many people view the forum topics), there are relatively few reviews.
I feel that contributing at least one review would be a wonderful gesture to this fantastic community....if you haven't already done so. I just posted my first review (On Atmosphere) and it's nice to think that maybe sometime, someone will stumble onto my review and it will help them make a decision.
Thank you to anyone who joins me and writes their first (or another) review.....giving a little something back to the community. Oh, and lurkers, come out and join us. I was one for far too long, and I like it out here much better.

Welcome CS
KvR is now officially part of your life and you won't be able to escape its clutches, ever. MuahahahahahahAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I have submitted some reviews [a couple, I think] but I really don't consider myself an expert on the field of synths and samplers so I'd rather leave Scot Solida, x-bruce and other people do the reviewing.
Welcome again, and don't let the satanic and totally asbolutely evil putte put you off this site
[nah, just kidding, he's a great guy

Hey CS,
welcome there!
I'd be glad to fulfill your request, but i'm afraid it won't be possible
J
i advise you to quit KvR before it's too late. As you can see, a lot of discrimination is going on here

welcome CS..
I did a review of Crystal, and decided since it's best left to those who actually know.
no sight of ew.
buy reaktor
you know you want it
(or you should)

I think even if you do not know much it is a nice thing to write a review. A lot of people are not interested in the idea of a professional, but the idea of a person in the same shoes.
I came here because I found reviews by someone who had the same idea in mind for the item I saw. Not because someone who felt they know more than me did not like or did like the product.
I get more information from my peers than those who already feel too knowledged to speak honest with me.

This is exactly what I was talking about. People want to know what other people think, and because I appreciated their input, I entered a review myself and will be entering more. I was just suggesting some of the hundreds if not thousands who frequent this site give a little back and make this THE place for REAL REVIEWS.....not the reviews of pros or the like. I have my subscription to certain magazines for "pro" reviews. I would prefer to know how people like me are getting on with certain software.
And, for what it's worth, I already own Reaktor, actually the whole Komplete bundle.
Anyway, I wasn't trying to pressure anyone into writing reviews or anything, I just thought it would be a nice gesture....which is why I wrote one myself.
Maybe I'll sit down one afternoon and write one for every piece of software I own
Thanks for the replies guys.

as opia said the more time you spend here you will find all the normal review info here in the threads.while i do agree reviews are a nice gesture as you can see i tend to waffle complete bollocks when im typing, mainly because im on my way to bed so im wasted but also because its just how i am,anyway what i was saying was while i agree they are a nice gesture you said yourself the devs hang here themselves so they read the threads and i have become very close friends with a few devs here.
but aside from reviews, what i do is if i like an instrument i purchase i will knock up a tune that shows it in a way i couldnt write in a review.
also i sat in my back garden and had a beer with a dev and personally thanked him face to face for great gear,i think youll agree a slightly nicer gesture than a plain old review

I think everyone is mistakenly under the impression that I am new here. I have frequented this site for a long while, and have more recently (last year some time) started actually posting.
The reviews aren't for you and me so much as newer people that stumble onto this site....I read the forums all the time (too much
They then may be compelled to join in all the community fun! The more the merrier right?

fair enough,i get your point and i do actually agree that reviews are a good thing, but i think also that someone needs to be able to write a meaningful review-i dont care if they like it or not or if they are professional or not,but to at least have the ability to wtring meaningful sentences without wittering on and on here and there about nuthin.
which i probably would do.
but yeah i see what you mean
