Bitwig's plugin sandboxing is rather nice... plugin crashes, you just restart it but the app is fine... that is a +
Bitwig's modulation system is a real gem! It is a pleasure to work with. It is fast and fun and powerful.
The layered midi editing is noteworthy as well.
Audio editing within a clip, multiple projects open at once, note expression, histograms, hybrid tracks, bounce in place, 32 and 64 bit plugins...
Sorry, but Live is not miles ahead in every other area.

Depends on the user. Honestly, someday maybe it'll be the cats meow. Max just looked at a pic of bitwig though and said "meh, you need to put the money towards a swanky new perch for me"

How's the weather like in Loserville these days?
Regarding Bitwig, I wonder how Studio One 3 will look like, add to that Sonar x4 lol and Samplitude Xwhatever too. Asked presonus for time stamped automation, though it's not a necessity, wonder how gui will be, I like GUI of a Capture.
In sonar would like to be able to record internally, in Samplitude vst3, better time stretching.
Pro Tools is great, but it's like driving a tank to a grocery store, it'll take you there, but to be honest GTFL with such means of transportation
The thread is over, go cry now, Elvis has left the building

I am optimistic
The better Bitwig becomes, the better response from Ableton I guess (and maybe FL Studio or even Sonar, as it has some Project 5 elements).
So, after all, competition is a healthy thing and it is only getting better in this field.
I don't think I will buy Bitwig at this price, not because it is expensive, but because I already have invested in learning Live and Sonar besides purchasing them (the standard and studio editions). If Ableton won't fix the PDC problem in version 9, I won't upgrade to suite 9. Instead I will upgrade to the standard 10 if PDC will be fixed there. Till that time, I will use Sonar for most of my music.
In one case, I would jump to Bitwig if they offer a crossgrade from Live, and if Ableton ignores the PDC issue completely (which I think many would do anyway!).
Is Ableton going to ignore the PDC issue under Bitwig competition? I guess not, but it is just a guess. No facts indicate 'yes' or 'no' for now.

For me, considering that I already own a few daw and many plug-ins, $400 for this isn't worth it.
This wouldn't make such a huge significance to my productions so I'll be waiting for some improvements, reviews or something to come out that's more eye popping

Of course... you are welcome to your opinion... I posted for other people reading so they don't think Live actually is better in every area.TheoM wrote: I mean we all make our opinions based on um, our *own* opinion. LOL. But hopefully the *to me* has cleared that up for you.

Hi dsan, thanks for your reply!dsan@mail.com wrote:1.) I noticed the garbling issue the first time I ran BWS demo; however, after a bit it disappeared. I use Edirol FA-101. I'm running at 44.1 khz and 128 buffer.dalor wrote:Demo'd Bitwig.
1) There is a a buffer problem with my Soundcard E-MU 1616m and everything sounds garbled in beyond 88khz and I tried all possible Buffer Sizes.
44.1khz and 48khz seem to work fine.
2) Akai AxiomPro61 is not working, tried the Generic MIDI Keyboard, no luck.
Since that first time I've have not heard any sound issues. Hope that turns out the same for you.
2.) Do you mean m-Audio Axiom Pro 61 or Akai Mpk 61?
There is a script for m-Audio contributed by 4damind here (scroll down a bit past middle of page):

If you haven't yet, it is recommended visiting the BWS forum here at KVR. Lots of useful information within
Happy Musiking!

88.2 KHz is garbled as well. 48KHz and below seems fine. Good to know I'm not alone with this issuelesha wrote:I have the same card and can't even get Bitwig to work in 88.2 KHz.dalor wrote:1) There is a a buffer problem with my Soundcard E-MU 1616m and everything sounds garbled in beyond 88khz and I tried all possible Buffer Sizes.

I usually don't, so I didn't try it earlier.
