what's the psu? 9v 300mA? or 600mA?

could you just have a hefty 9v with 3 parallel outputs?
eg: if 300mA x3, you could get away with 1A -is this correct?-

its just that i have a few 9v things, and a box of diverse 9v supplies,
if you know what i mean - wouldn't it be great to have a universal unit
with many outputs, and you just plug into it as you need..

ah.
thing that i get stuck on: the outputs are in series: does this mean
the one at the end get lasting helpings of available power? i thought
it would be in parallel, to draw same (current?) for each.

i don't think too much of that case, what's that all about? Voltar?

the Keys seems the least popular - but there's a couple of really good demos
of its filter - a dirty little synth ! ..so that sequencer on it is polyphonic?
is the Bass based on the MS10?

Korg's own PSU is 1.7A. However, given that it can run on AA's, I think the Volcas' current draws are much lower, probably around the figures you're suggesting, and the PSU is overspec'd.

OK, the plug with 4,8mm x 1,7mm fits perfectly into Volca Bass, now I have to figure out how to make sure + and - are in correct places (in case I messed something up - would wrong polarisation damage the synth?)

some 9v gear seems to want over 500mA and is suppllied with 600mA,
so that'd fit, if the psu is intended to feed all three (?) - maybe what
is needed to run your average analogue+memory device.

what I meant was would it damage it instantly? flipped batteries usually dont do that

Which is bizarre because it's easily the most flexible! I have one and everything about is awesome. Great filter, really dirty sounding delay, six different oscillator modes... Bargain of the decade, century etc, etc.

i wouldn't know off hand with the Volcas. i know with other synths (esp. modulars), wrong polarity will fry the chips instantly. devices that use batteries (like t.v. remotes, flashlights) usually have some sort of protection from reversed batteries. which is why they don't work when that happens. in any case, i wouldn't take any chances, but that's just me.

yeah I just wanted to make sure, I guess I'll buy a 9V LED - it should light only when connected with proper polarisation right?

You need to use a multimeter to test polarity. You need to know what polarity the centre pin has to be. Never assume any protection is fitted on anything. Get it wrong and you WILL damage it.

Already done it :) my 9V 0,6A power adapter from TP-Link router works perfectly with Volca after fitting it with new, Korg-compatible plug! Thanks for all the help guys, I need to beef up my theory knowledge in electronics ;)

Surely I am not the only one who thinks these volcas (while kinda geez whiz neat-o, sure)... sound cheap and crappy?
