Oh, and the track has a garageband drum loop (ask a clubber if they care about that as well). But a cracking tune and a fine pop song - the Manic Street Preachers did a great version of it too, btw.

I don't think you understand pop music. "she loves you yeah yeah yeah she loves you yeah yeah yeah she loves you yeah yeah yeah yeaaaaaaah" etc. Actually much as the lyrics I quoted are perfectly fine, it's the "ella ella, ay, ay" hook which is the true pop genius, as the critics appreciated (and public - no1 in 13 countries and 6.6m sales).

Haha @ TCM. We all have guilty pleasures. I didn't like Umbrella, but a lot of her other stuff is ok. If we're choosing pop stars though, Lana Del Ray owns.

But (to answer a secondary question) buying instruments and making music should only be about your own enjoyment, not that of any average listeners'.

Indeed - similarly risible when starkly written down, isn't it? What the hell did that Lennon and McCartney know anyway?

Sorry I've dragged this waay off topic. If there's a connection, it's that folks waste far too much time worrying about the infitessimablly tiny differences between sawtooth waveforms (as cared about by 0% of the listening public), and not enough about, ya know, the song (as cared about by 100% of the listening public). Yeah, I know its our job to obsess over details, but some sense of proportion is always a good thing imo.
