I have everything on one drive at the moment and it is getting a bit crowded.

What I am hoping to do is to add an old 20gig drive which is partitioned as 5/15g.

How do I go about setting up the drives so that XP pro is on the 5g partition which should then become the C drive.

(I hope that this makes sense)

OK - Will I get the choice where to install when I boot from the CD, or should I take the big drive out and have the new drive set as primary master.

It should give you the choice, but the actual bootloader will still be on the first drive, so unless its always gonna be there, I'd move the new one to be the primary...

Although I have to say with the price of drives these days, you could always think about getting a PCI drive controller (£12-£15) and a spankme new 120gb or 160gb hard drive (£60-75)

Ummm what about Ghost instead?

Lil easier than reinstall.

Yeah, I'm tempted, whyterabbyt, but I've never come across a drive controller before. Why would it be needed?

DevonB - I've just got Ghost but not sure how to just ghost the O/S rather than the whole drive.

Surely you could make your boot drive down to 5 gigs by moving files, yes?

Most folks dont tend to have a spare copy of Ghost lying around. And its always an opportunity to de-cruft.

So you dont need to shuffle any of your existing stuff around (disks, partitions, cables, jumper switches, or whatever

)

That sounds good - when in doubt always take the expensive option

Devon -I don't think so I've got about 100gigs used on the boot drive with no partition

You can always do a repair of the C: drive to have the boot partition information with the new drive in there from the Windows install CD. But yup, starting to look like a visit to Reinstall City.

I just need to defer the new midi keyboard.

I think that I will attempt to partition the existing drive to isolate windows and then ghost that partition to the new drive (maybe new big gig).
