Sorry for being ranty. I've known a lot of people who suffered from sexual repression and abuse. The topic here is of great interest to me. Also, I see the original article as a vindication of music as a vital human experience/trait, not as a dismissal of its artistic value.

There are also a lot of people suffering from sexual abuse and sexual violence in this world, not only from sexual REpression, just saying...

Agreed. i know many. In fact, i think every female i know has been abused seriously by some male, sexually, or has at least been used for sex. It's awful. The number of raped women i know, too... These statistics about violence against women by men are not exaggerated. And it's not just women, either, i know. Anyway, these are topics i find very important; sexuality and suffering. Combine the two and you get some serious lifelong issues. :-(

doesn't have to be lifelong i don't think...a big part of the problem is how stigmatized the whole thing still is, which makes it much harder for victims to process and work with the trauma.
sexual repression/violence/abuse, whatever, it's all part of the same problem.
lots of tittilation everywhere, little honest effort to understand sex deeper. that said, little honest effort to understand the whole human more holistically.

sex, to me, is the basic life force. where you direct that is entirely up to you, but it all draws from the same pool.
sex isn't all the same (talking about the act now). it can be a basic biological thing, 2 things grinding against another to get some pleasure. not entirely different from masturbation, just with the added effect of possible pregnancy.
it can be a completely different thing of course. to the point where the act still happens, but it's completely secondary to emotional quality and communication.

it's all been known for a long while, the tantra stuff etc.
i'm by all means a novice myself, but a few remarks in here seemed to introduce unnecessary dualism. wholesome integration is where it's at.

Agreed on the integration point :-)

The stigma is the bigger cause of problems becoming life-long; I should've specified. Not being able to develop past a certain point, due to taboos against talking openly... recovery from any trauma is a lot easier when the society around you supports your well being. Mostly, it doesn't. It does the opposite.
