Hi,
I have sm57 mic . I need to buy a portable digital recorder for vocal.I have 22vsl now, but I need a portable solution , so that I can carry it everywhere and to use it without attaching it to a laptop
my budget is between 150~350$.
can you suggest a Best Portable Digital Recorder ? (which can deliver same sound quality of 22vsl.)

Check out the Zoom H4n. Two inputs accept either 1/4-inch or XLR, plus built-in stereo mic. Records to multiple formats, from MP3 to 16-bit or 24-bit WAV. Less than $300. I use one regularly and I find it very reliable.

can you compare Zoom H4n & Tascam DR40 ?

Wow. Don't listen to anybody in this thread. Research for yourself. I would rather get a hooker to follow me around with a flip phone, than the H4N. It's high noise floor ruins anything that's not recorded in a studio. I went with the Tascam DR 100 MKII but only because I also got a Rode NTG 2 and a pre amp. The Sony PCM M10 is in my research, the best portable recorder for internal mics.

Tascam dr 100. Idk why ppl are recommending zooms. The h6 is their only good project.
