I'm really tired of auto tuning my voice. It's hard to mix with, just like a vocoder.

Well, then either pay a lot for Eddie Tarilonte's cinematic vocal libraries or save the big bucks and hire a professional vocalist...

The world's full of girls who like to sing. If you're unlucky, you'll find some who want to write about something deep and important. If you're lucky, you'll find some who want to write about things lots of other girls care about.

I don't mean to be a prick, this is sincere: practice singing more. The more you work at it, the better you'll get. Pick some bands with singers you like and try to emulate them (you'll develop your own style over time, especially if you sing to several different influences). Do vocal practice just as you might do instrument practice. Have fun with it, but it is a bit of work, just like getting skilled at any other process

Take singing lessons, even. Could be interesting to get formal training.

No, seriously, it's amazing. It only talks and cannot sing, but with some processing you may get great results. Already used it in 2 of my tracks.

I very much like using Virtual Singer for all my stuff that normal people refuse to sing. Of course I heavily process the output.

Towards the mic is the best way to turn. I agree with the advice to learn to sing better too - once you start using a crutch you're never going to have any incentive to improve beyond the point that you use the crutch.

Contact your local audio engineering school, amateur theatrical society, radio station etc...there will be loads of people who will be delighted to offer their services, simply for the experience of being recorded. Just be nice to them, show 'em what you are doing and why....be open about what you want...
Music is a 'glamour' industry...and as such can be a magnet for people willing to learn.
Just be gentle and honest with them and they will be delighted to give you 110%. Who knows, you may make a friend

back in the day when I was in a rock band I was a guitarist. couldn't find a singer and just decided to do it myself. over the years I have gotten little notice for my guitar playing, but plenty of people have complimented my voice. I'm not technically very good, but as was mentioned above: I practiced. I also learned to work within my limitations. turns out it's pretty fun.

I have a friend who writes really interesting music and I used to sing on his stuff for him (until I just didn't have the time anymore). he was forced into singing his own stuff, and honestly it sounds cooler than when I did it. he experienced the emotions and wrote the lyrics. much more convincing when he does it. and it sounds unique. he sings like no one else.

I say: give it a shot. if you decided it's not for you, then start looking for someone else.

Where do you turn when you need vocals?
