But where are all the freeware Reaktor plugs for the general public, ie those who don't own Reaktor ??? Does the Free Reakor Player really open up a whole new catalog of plugins for the general public? Not really familar with the Free Reaktor Player choices available ...BBFG# wrote:Things I liked from SynthEdit, I now look for in Reaktor as the best promise to replace them. Anything in IKM, I look for in Kontakt.
It just appears to me that they are the ones that will eventually have the longest life span. And it's in my best interest to not invest anymore into coding that cannot cross the 64 bit Rubicon.

I agree, those alternatives kind of force people into proprietary platforms. I like the fact that SE plugins are independent units, no need for any player or whatever.abovethoughts wrote:But where are all the freeware Reaktor plugs for the general public, ie those who don't own Reaktor ??? I have never had anything NI on my computer and probably never will.

Still have to think it's about life span for usable purposes.
SE may have developed a good size cult status right up there with Win XP users, but the fact remains, technology is moving forward and many of those created in SE will not. Right now, NI has the best platform into future possibilities.
I like the HG Fortune stuff for instance, but they aren't anywhere close to being the most stable. However, I will say the only things that never worked on my current system were IKM's 64bit A3 and most of the T-RackS. (And of course, my old 32bit EMU ProteusX2).
So 32bit SE has become a warning flag to not waste my time with.

The player demo limit is 30 minute sessions, and restart reaktor.abovethoughts wrote: But where are all the freeware Reaktor plugs for the general public, ie those who don't own Reaktor ??? In the user library, there are hundreds of great ensembles and fx, for anyones
variety of taste and needs. (create account, login, download, play)
There is a rating system, and user reviews,
once some great authors names are familiar, and you calculate the size
of the grain of salt you apply to the reviews, it's pretty easy to find
a great instrument and effect every time you go there, and there are
several forum topics here, listing Reaktor favorites.
Cheers

For a long time it was 'not to synthedit' but lately I've found gems that I wouldn't want to be without now. You have to learn to live with quirks with synthedit plugins though (and, interestingly, a lot of the same quirks apply to synthmaker plugins too). For instance, some synthedit plugins (in reaper anyway) refuse to process live audio coming in through the soundcard. Some will cease putting out audio if I lose focus of reaper then come back to it.
Current favourite synthedit plugin has to be Krakli's Xakt and I couldn't live without J1000's eq's either.

Was just programming a couple of patches for Superwave's Performer synth and making a short pattern with them, the drums are from my DAW, Mixcraft, though. (Yes, I know it is very basic, the timing sucks, and it is not properly mixed, I just dialed in one of those iZotope Mastering Essentials presets
) But I kind of like the chords, maybe I will make more out of it
And I like the sound of those old SE synths, ideal for my limited needs, and cheap at it, the Performer costs 20 bucks if I remember correctly.

There's a lot you can do with SynthEdit and we are already working on new products supporting x64 and Mac, with lot of advice from Jeff McClintock himself.BBFG# wrote:The direct answer to the question for me is simply
"... not to SynthEdit".
Everything as of late is in preparation of 32 bit becoming more problematic as time goes by.
'Trans Computer Maschine II' (x86 !!!) was rated 6/6 on german magazine 'Beat' last January were they said that it is "More than just a great-sounding alternative to commercial products such as TimewARP 2600 or ARP2600V".
Is not about what you use but how you use it, SynthEdit allowed us to put on board features not seen before like the 'Skip' and 'Set' real-time controls for 'Synthanorma' emulation and the sequencer 'LEDs' true analogue response (you might check other plugins like the €99 Modular V sequencer to see how some 'LEDs' blink together or just disappear when stepping fast). Not to mention the open SDK that allowed the design of custom filter and oscillators.

SynthEdit still rocks and believe it, the best is still to come, Jeff is working so hard...

There is a new jBridge update today with lots of fixes and improvements
Should make it easier and more reliable to use SE stuff in 64-bit hosts...

Never heard of your synth before, but judging from the interface it will be hard on the eyes, like the other emulations of that synth. Well, I will give it a try, anywayCMT wrote:There's a lot you can do with SynthEdit and we are already working on new products supporting x64 and Mac, with lot of advice from Jeff McClintock himself.BBFG# wrote:The direct answer to the question for me is simply

Wow - that would make for a great KVR OSC synth - have you contacted V'ger or BjPorter the mods of the challenge - Will test it when I get back from my vacation next month - looks inspiring!CMT wrote:There's a lot you can do with SynthEdit and we are already working on new products supporting x64 and Mac, with lot of advice from Jeff McClintock himself.

Ok, now you might have also sparked some interest in a SynthEdit purchase

I've heard this before from other companies which still have not been able to cross the river into a reality.CMT wrote:There's a lot you can do with SynthEdit and we are already working on new products supporting x64 and Mac, with lot of advice from Jeff McClintock himself.BBFG# wrote:The direct answer to the question for me is simply

And you're partially right about "It's not what you use but..." however it comes down to how long you can use as well. And like I've said before, my favorite SE VIs no longer have the support or stability to continue with them.
If and when they do 64 bit and seeing if and when the synths that use it have met the requirements, I will make a decision based on that and not any promise of how great others think it could be in the 'if only' of the imaginative future. Already been there, and it's a waste of time.
SEdit, as it stands right now, is... well... fill in the blank with your own metaphor of denial grasping its last breaths of life before evolution forces it to meet the change or die.
Wish them all the best luck on its re-coding resurrection though.
And I'll keep watching just to see if it ever materializes.

And which one would that be?Ah_Dziz wrote:one of my most used plugins is synthedit. It crashes at least once a day.
None of mine ever crash. Occasionally there is some odd behavior, but since that doesn't happen in all DAW's alike I can't even say with certainty that is a SE issue. And odd behavior is not limited to SE synths.

For me, the HG Fortune's AstralDreamer and Tiger consistently crash, UltraSwamp and DreamMachine3 crash inevitably. All come up with load errors at one time or another and can often lead to a crash also. I like the synths for their uniqueness, but don't use them any longer because of it.fluffy_little_something wrote:And which one would that be?Ah_Dziz wrote:one of my most used plugins is synthedit.
