The reason for that is simply that the GUI is not yet finished.

On my facebook page, you see a different version of the GUI (that was the version I worked on before switching to WDL-OL/IPlug for easier Mac VST/AU support), which still had the number buttons to select programs.

I now decided to scrap these in favour of the popup menu, but I have not yet resized the GUI background. Also, two more buttons (for File Read and Load) are still missing, as the functions are not yet implemented. When everything is finished, I will finally re-arrange the buttons, and possibly resize the GUI, as there were requests for making it overall slightly larger.

Right now, I am concentrating first on getting all functionality finished and debugged, and then I will have another go at the GUI.

Cheers,
Martin

Also, width can be decreased by reducing the logo size (upper right corner), and moving out the AT, bender and portamento controls up and left.

The whole GUI has extra unused space on the left size, this can be trimmed.
all great points, i did this for my own copy of the new PG8X... however replacing the original graphics was quite easy, i lack the programming skills to alter the actual placement of the controls. i'm up for working with martin on it if he so desires :borg:

Is the dev the only person who can add the plug to the database?

If there for example are links to soundsets buried in this thread, I would much prefer to have them included in a database listing as they are much easier to locate on a dedicated page there.

I will add the plugin to the database, once it is finished. Please, keep in mind that it is currently in beta stage. In particular, be aware that the format of saved preset banks still can (and most likely will) change.

As far as I remember, there are no links to banks, other than the few which are actually in the database for the old version of the plugin.

The new GUI is taking shape. I look forward to the non beta version. Great work :tu:

A Question - will CPU useage be lower on the final version? I seem to be hitting 35% on some patches.

What computer are you on? This seems very high.

It was working for me in x2 and I upgraded to x3 and now it is not working maybe I will break down and try j bridge one day but it does show up in reaper. Is the version available a newer version or is it the same ol same ol?

Hi,

Could you give me some more info about what you are using and what exactly is not working.

For the new version, so far there only has been the one beta. I am currently fixing some bugs which were found, and also implement the ability to read and write fxb banks from within the plugin.

I aim for the next release this weekend.

Martin

It was built for me, not sure of all the components but it does have an intel pentium dual core. I'm running Windows 7.

What is the buglist? Is the plugin already transmitting sysex over MIDI to control JX-8P's parameters like a PG-800?

The current list of known bugs is:
  • Transport start/stop bug: sound is lost after START until a new preset is loaded.
  • State of Poly Mode LED's is not restored when loading presets.
  • Chorus speed and depth have no effect
Things not yet implemented:
  • Midi Learn
  • Direct loading of fxb and Sysex files
  • Sending Sysex data
The current status of Sysex handling is that the plugin can react on Sysex sent via MIDI.

The above mentioned known bugs will be fixed in the next release, and I am currently working on the file handling.

Midi Learn and outgoing Sysex will be started after the release of the next beta, which hopefully will be ready some time this weekend.

Couple of things I noticed while trying the latest versions.

None of the sliders can be set to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60.

PG8X seems to only respond to MIDI channel 1. Is there a plan to allow other channels too and how to select them?

At any rate, when sounds are changed, MIDI keyboard will play them and any MIDI file will play them also. I can also change sounds while the MIDI file is playing and it's still fine. But when the DAW is stopped, there's no more response, not by playing the MIDI file nor playing the keys. The sound must be changed to another one and then start over again. Seems like MIDI start/stop commands will somehow reset the engine and only by changing the sound it can be brought back?

Same results with 32- and 64-bit PG8X versions, trying out with both 32- and 64-bit Reaper versions (v4.611). Win 8.1, 64bit.

You can fine control the sliders by pressing shift when dragging the mouse, or also by using the mouse wheel while the control is active.

Yes, this is a bug. I am planning to include a switch for selecting one or all MIDI channels.

Yes, this is the start/stop bug, I mentioned before. I hope it should be fixed in the new version. Right now, if you select a new preset, it should work again.

But, please keep in mind, that this is an early beta, which is still plagued with bugs.

Thanks for the reply Martin. Shift seems to indeed allow choosing the even tens on sliders. Good to know that MIDI problems are still worked on. I read the whole thread considering the new version, but missed about the start/stop bug, sorry about that.

Didn't say earlier, will do now...this sounds good. Thanks Martin.

One GUI concern: Return the numerical readouts underneath the sliders.
