Not just either, go to a ritzy mall in the city and you'd be hard pressed to find anything under 400 out of hundreds of stores selling even the most basic of commodities. There isn't much difference between malls of 'regular' nature and them selling basically same stuff just different prices at roughly the same ratios of what they can afford is mindlessly and heartlessly pitiable.arkmabat wrote:Gucci Bags...Mushy Mushy wrote:You answered your own question.mysticvibes wrote:Mushy Mushy wrote:Nothing can ever be overpriced. I'm sure that there is stealing that is lawful or just some things are really hard to enforce due to the blurring of individual and corporation. I don't think 'law' and 'ethics' are synonyms, so I think 'lawful' cannot through itself vacate 'theft' as you are seeking here.BERFAB wrote:However, while you may not agree with certain laws, generally speaking, banks and governments don't 'steal' your money. They get your money using laws that are on the books. Usually. Not to say that it DOESN'T happen, but when your money is taken by them illegally, you can, and should, report them as well.
I think narc'ing on people for pirating is really puny. I don't agree with the pirate ways, especially as a lot of people that are not poor at all do it, but in the scheme of things (which is nearly every rich person stole, f**ked people over majorly, or inherited from their parents what did), this is really societally misplaced. Proceed with empathy, do you want to hurt someone concretely in order to 'help teh developers' as an abstraction?
If the OP simply refers to reporting to an admin at a forum, fine, who cares.

Can you understand other peoples intended point? To clarify even further normal would equate to overpriced which would further simplified mean something you can afford and in your price range of what you are willing to spend, which I asked you personally if this was the case to make and obvious example.Mushy Mushy wrote:What? $800 t-shirt priced normally. Absolutely, for the intended market.Side note It irks me to no end how that money (800 a tshirt) could be put to better use helping people who need it.. but
Yes it is normal. Does it make a difference if I can't afford it?! Absolutely not.
Ferrari priced normally? Yup. Can I afford it? Nup. Do I wish I could? Yep.
First Class airfare? Ditto. Ditto. Ditto.

I think pirates are a bit clueless.
If they had a goal and artistic vision, they would easily get it together without spending a dime on software (seeing all the available freeware now).
Pirates need bling, they can't record or have their friends around without having Sylenth1 or Omnisphere in their arsenal to show off about.

It does not 'simply' mean that, we can have other meanings. Nothing can be overpriced because 'vacuous gesture: 'free market''.MushyMushy wrote:No, this simply means they're expensive to you and others.
You seek to obliterate the meaning of 'value' utterly by these gestures. Where is your ethical compass?
Beyond a Ferrari, which can be shown to have value in terms of something, you want to be ostentatious with wealth to a nauseating extent. What's the tee-shirt made of? How long will it last? These are things reasonable people can assign a 'value' to.

"Absolutely" normal in an abnormal milieu? Great. If I were so loaded with money I thought 800 dollars was a suitable price for a tee-shirt, I would have to give a lot of money away. I think that's normative values. You actually aspire to having money to throw away? I think that's not good mental hygiene, sorry to say.Mushy Mushy wrote:Not normal in my circle of friends or yours.jancivil wrote:That's sick. So some can afford them and thus negate the term over priced in your definition that is entirely irrelevant to my intended point and your going around again with cyclic trivialities. You conveniently missed my other part of relative value being the key term in defining overpriced. Compare a ferari to a bmw both offering similar horsepower, features etc, but one much more expensive, you still consider not over priced because someone is willing to pay for it. Tshirt example should be all to obvious but the same cotton priced at 800 dollars is still not over priced relative to what is similar on the market. This is final conjecture on this point cause this debate is absurd and we are just arguing intended definitions about relatively pointless topic having nothing to do with the op's thread. Say so whatever you want replying to this post if you will and lets just leave it at that...

Absolutely I do. It's not about money at all. It's about living my dreams which, unfortunately require money to fulfill. Holidays. Nice food. Nice house. Not living pay cheque to pay cheque.jancivil wrote:"Absolutely" normal in an abnormal milieu? Great.
