Come to Germany. We don't even have the word "overpriced". We only have the word "überteuert" which accurately translated means "over-expensive".

I agree with you 100% jancivil. Its beyond even appalling that at least million of people literally spend that much and more on simple cotton tshirts.jancivil wrote:"Absolutely" normal in an abnormal milieu? Great. If I were so loaded with money I thought 800 dollars was a suitable price for a tee-shirt, I would have to give a lot of money away. I think that's normative values. You actually aspire to having money to throw away? I think that's not good mental hygiene, sorry to say.Mushy Mushy wrote:Not normal in my circle of friends or yours.jancivil wrote:That's sick. It's not normal by a long long ways.Mushy Mushy wrote:$800 t-shirt
Wish I could do this.
But absolutely normal in celeb world I'm sure.

I think that this problem needs a completely new, fresh point of a view. This is literally thing we'll be facing more and more in of all kinds of bussinesses as technology evoluion is really rapid these days.
The value of the music used to be given by it's rarity and by it's extremely difficult distribution. When there are barriers, there is a value. That's how economy works in that manner. These barriers are not in existence anymore, so only value left to the music is the one you think it has when you're making it and the one your audience might believe it has, but that's all. There is thousands people making similar product as you in the exact same minute and once it's finished, this product can be available worldwide in seconds. That's how technology stands today.
All people crying about "stealing" are missing the point I believe. This is quite simply a new industrial revolution. But this time, technology gives advantage to the consumers as oppose to anybody else. As there were no point in crying for all the manufacture employees replaced by machines, there is no point in crying over old distribution models.
I do have all my software legal and I will gladly continue to support the developers, but this problem will not dissapear just becouse we were used to the way it was before. I'm afraid this is natural evolution and we need to adapt, or die. As it was and as it probably always will be.

Personally these people who want to drive around diamond-studded Rolls Royces and wear bags that cost the Earth make me sick. Especially in the current financial climate, where child poverty, abuse of the elderly, and lack of simple hope are so rife. They're all caused by the people at the top needing more more more. I don't want any kind of status symbols, I just want to be able to live and create and care for my family. It's not my dream to live in a giant lego-brick like Aviici, or own a wall of Moog gear which I can use as a status symbol as much as a musical instrument.
Some people can only think in terms of domination and submission. You're either the dog, or the lamp-post, and if you're the post, all you can ever hope for is that one day you'll get to be the dog so you can get your "revenge". It's just such a bleak outlook on life. These people will always say people like me are just jealous.
Yes, I want money, because we live in a society that wants you to f off and die if you don't have it, but there comes a point where it just becomes obscene. Was that show called "Cribs" or something, where they looked around "superstars" homes. I only came across it from watching Charlie Brooker's "How TV Ruined Your Life".

It reminds me of the Village from The Prisoner
f**k it, I'd live in a tree house if I could get electricity to run my noisemakers.

Are you sure? Red Kite birds, for example, occasionally attack other raptor birds even in the air and rob them their prey! I don't believe that the animal kingdom were wiser...Delfinoverde wrote:Greed, envy, injustice, disrespect and crime are inventions of humans. The animal kingdom is much more wiser and efficient.

You don't find greed, envy, injustice, disrespect and crime in "The animal kingdom"? That is sooooo dumb!

I was about to post a Youtube video about 2 lions killing another lion but then I thought it would be too graphic...standalone wrote:https://www.google.es/search?q=gorillas ... 2&ie=UTF-8
(Yes, lions do have "Stand-your-ground" law...
However, I love animals, I feel compassion for them. Because they have to do it, it's their instinct. But mankind has rational thinking and can decide not to do it, and when they do it - killing other people - nonetheless, then it's much more sad, IMO.

I haven't read the thread but here is my take.
If it's a forum like here, then yeah, you should report it. I mean if someone comes onto a commercial site and brags about stuff they didn't pay for, here, a moderator is likely to step in.
That said, it's not going to deter them. I just recently saw a show where a famous artist asked about if anyone bought their album (crowd went wild) then he asked how many of them illegally got the record (and the crowd went wild)
Digital downloads KILLED the music industry along with apple. Why would the same people pay 500 bucks for a piece of software when it's free? Kids (and many adults) think you are STUPID to pay for this stuff. It's a cultural thing.

I'm riding the off topic wave like I so often do, but I'll say it's probably not appropriate to take human concepts and apply them to animals. Actually, that's dumb. These lecture notes are at the top of that Google search you linked and it explains some reasoning why infanticide happens with primates.standalone wrote:You don't find greed, envy, injustice, disrespect and crime in "The animal kingdom"? On topic, I've got this problem with my friend. About every time I hear a new tune from him, and he's really a great composer and musician, I want to slap him with a large trout or something. He's in a ridiculous situation, he swears by his pirate copy of NI B3. He's gone from "I can't afford to buy that" to "I can't buy that 'cause it's vintage software and not sold anymore". We've had some heated arguments about it and I just can't convince him to ditch it. He mostly makes reggae music just like I do and the organ sound is critical part of it. He's a idiot and I love him and his music, I ain't going to report him. But I'll probably get that trout to slap him with it.

Keep in mind that reporting people doesn't change them!
Here at KVR people who publicly admit to use warez (or show a video with cracks) are usually banned but that doesn't change them at all. They'll still use their warez...
