Who needs them?

Na na na na. La la la la.

Crap.

Theyr'e all the same anyway.

My verses are my choruses (someone help me out with the correct English terminology here). And my bridges are my verses. Well, maybe not.

What rule is it that dictates that the chorus must be the 'strongest' or 'catchiest' part of a song? If it works that way great, but why force it?

Vurt doesn't have choruses (here we go again) in his music. Then again he doesn't have verses either. Come to think of it, it's not even music, as we know it. Probably a bad example.

But, Techno songs don't have a chorus. Gabba doesn't have a chorus. But in the pop/rock domain, the song MUST have a chorus. If you were going to be produced by anyone of any note, they would say 'where is the hook?' - meaning where is the f**king chorus? Even Hip Hop has a chorus for pity's sake.

Why am I getting all uppity about this?

Well, wrote a great song today (if you like that kind of thing). Didn't have a chorus. Or to be more precise, I could not bleddy think of a chorus to go with it. It's a great song. It doesn't need a chorus. So, I decided to stop forcing choruses (this is really starting to bother me now) on the song. It works perfectly well without it. It is cyclical, like most of my stuff. Why ruin it? Let the seasons change. Why interrupt with 'ooh baby' a half decibel higher, and half a tone sharper, and a half a bpm faster (actually let's not even go there - that is an argument for another day)?

But really, this is the 21st Century, do we really need choruses any more?

Na na na na...

Do away with them I say. Make it de rigueur to say 'oh no, not another bliddy chorus, that is so 20th Century'.

:-)

If you say so.

Eh, I can feel a song coming on.

Chorizzo is the way to go.
Eh, if you say so.

Not sure about the rest.

Isn't Chorizzo an Italian cheese dish or sommat?

I know this is the age of the internet, but let me have my innocent thoughts in my own mind for a while.

Off to google Chorizzo.

Yo.

Your link inspired me.

Everybody do the... (dramatic pause for effect)
Chorizzo!

This is the moment when, those that can, get their 'sausage' out. ;-)

You really don't know what you have started.
Even your grandchildren will hate you for this.

And when they go to school, there won't be Chorizzo no mo'.

You don't eat that shit do you?
f**k.

I come on Kvr for a bit of high brow discussion and I get this.

Oh well.

I'd really like for this thread to not be derailed.

But something tells me we have already crossed the Rubicon.

Bring it on.

Post

I totally eat chorizo, with scrambled eggs and refried beans, keep the tortillas coming.

Have a chorus, don't have a chorus. Who cares.

Post

Bring it on? Are you sure?

See what I mean?

No, what do you mean. You're engaged in a very pedestrian exercise like it's going to be of some moment to the group.

Edit: It's too hard to get a read on you, you couch or obscure everything in sarcasm, layers and layers of attitude. You don't want WHAT thread 'derailed'? With all due respect, I think no one is interested.
