Most definitely 64bit uses all available RAM and has no RAM meter so that wouldn't be an issue(unless we are talking a thousand track epic).hibidy wrote:If someone is having an issue, then they are having an issue. I don't know what is causing it.
I'm guessing this isn't a deal for x64 users?

night son, did you try loading clips from disc? im trying to find out if there's a way, not sure if professional has a way, I can't find anyone in studio one free.
Does anyone knows if there's a way of having the audio clips streaming from disc instead of loading to RAM? I remember ableton had a RAM button on the clip settings which was off by default.

Well, there are two things I don't like about S1 after getting kinda deeper into it (which still scares me
)
1) That damn cpu meter. I certain I saw the damn thing spike today......it's going to be the death of me!
But I am able to do quite a few cpu naughty stuff going on at once. I hate to think of it, but I can always bounce (gulp) if I have to. There is much joy in many aspects so I'll bend a bit on this.
2) The paradigm with instrument tracks and the way they correspond to the "console". Renaming and keeping track can be a challenge. But it's not THAT bad, just don't like having to rename tracks twice.....a bit confusing.
Other than that, it's having me ask what it CAN'T do!?
Example of the wonders of S1 when working properly......Imagine wanting an external controller to record automation and work on a track. Imagine hibidy being able to set it up with relative ease and not have to ask questions on how
In live, it's having to set up a midi track, and please don't get me started on reaper
There you have it. Works like a charm.
Well, I had to share.

Yes. It took me awhile to come to grips with other people's perception of that.hibidy wrote:2) The paradigm with instrument tracks and the way they correspond to the "console". At first it didn't make sense to me why it seemed so odd to others, and then later as I looked around at some other products and thought more about it, I started to realize that the "Cubase-like" track configuration actually isn't that typical and that anyone who has never really been a Cubase user might find it somewhat odd.
To me it was just "normal" coming from Cubase, but I do now understand why it seems a bit odd to others coming from Sonar or something.

Hmmmmmm, I don't remember that with cubey. Then again, it's been about 4 years since I used cubey.
But hey, other than that it's pretty logical for me. I'm just glad I can finally use it!

Yeah, they're almost identical.hibidy wrote:Hmmmmmm, I don't remember that with cubey. Then again, it's been about 4 years since I used cubey.
The only real difference is that Cubase also puts a midi fader into the mixer with it's midi tracks and S1 doesn't. The relative disconnection of an arrange midi track and the rack output (audio mixer channel) of whatever it happens to be sending midi to, which could be anything in the rack at any given time, is exactly the same.

Yeah so said the rep. I can't wait to see what they offer in this version. At this point I am not looking for huge feature changes, we have a lot of great stuff already and it's only V2.
What I am looking for is the many many refinements that you see in more mature programs. Workflow is number one and then there are still a couple of bugs that well, bug me.
The GUI has to be improved IMO, it's got a lot of small buttons and stuff, and it's all rather too much grey.

Perhaps a bit offtopic, but ...
i still wait for presonus to release proper documentation concerning external MIDI (DAW) controllers.
Looks to me like everythings already there, but it´s stil a pain in the a** to set up a generic MIDI controller, so that it does what you want.
For example, i still can´t get my old behringer BCR2000 to control send levels... *sigh*.
If anybody can enlighten me here, that would be REALLY appreciated.

Trying to learn the cutoff knob in Mojito with my Keystation Mini 32, just learns the AMP/Gain knob. Can't unlearn it either, annoying

It's been so long since I've done that that I'm not sure how to explain it, but other than it's a different paradgim, it works fine. I'm right in the middle of downloading ezd2 (bigish file) so I'd rather not open S1 right now.

Renaming of channels vs. tracks (and changing their colors) is a recurrent frustration in S1V2. Here's hoping it's properly addressed. Typically, once vendors and customers get accustomed to seeing the same flaw over and over again, it seldom gets fixed.
