Not true. The stability issues (the multicore bug) have been solved from a long time. Most SE plugins are rock solid.

Which version of SE is the best? I have heard that some don't use the latest version as it is not as solid as a previous one. I am asking because I am thinking of getting the SE environment myself
I remember I tried the latest demo version some time ago and it would crash on my computer, files were missing and what not...

I'm currently using v.1874 It's a quite old release but it's very stable and multicore-bug free, so I decided to keep on working with this one.

SE is always under development so it's not very easy to find a stable release, in particular the latest releases are a bit problematic because are under heavy development. It's always a bit traumatic to migrate to a new SE version so I think I'll stick with v.1874 until a stable version with 64bit export will be released.

In the beta section of the user area there are two versions available:

- v.1.1
- and an older version: 1.017

I have no the 1.1 version which version is (mine is v1.1874)

Why do people keep saying, oh SE, forget it, I have a Mac? According to their site one can easily turn them into Mac plugins

Well nope, between 1.1874 and 1.2 there was a lot of other releases!

As far as I know the Mac porting is still experimental and not complete. I don't know if someone already managed to create a stable SE Mac plugin.

Well nope, between 1.1874 and 1.2 there was a lot of other releases!

V1.914 is rock solid for me, everything above V1.7+ was resonably stable on my system actually. Some of the people who still use V1.0 sticks to it because the GUI was not implemented correctly, and moving to V1.1 will usually completely mess up a complex GUI. No such problems movig from V1.1 & V1.2 32bit though. The only real extra stuff is a couple more modules, improved multi "container" CPU counter, slightly improved CPU, but more importantly -> an oversampling feature was added, which will go a long way in clearing up some quality issues. Oh, and the internal voice allocator was changed a bit, but that's only applicable to the module developers...
