Hi,
Enjoying your excellent software application
Any chance of any of the following
1 : Full Dual Screen (Floating windows)
Scales, Chords, Progr, Phrases, Variations etc floating windows which can be
moved to second screen like DAW's
2 : Closing program as last entry in file Import / export Menu

Hello Attila
To help us to improve the precision of our MIDI events, could we have the grid downto the MIDI event lines? It could prevent our eyes to make yoyo between these lines and the upper parts of the screen.
Something like this:

Hi BlackWinny,
Yes, of course. This was added today. A grid is displayed for MIDI controllers and other parameter envelopes.
Thanks for the screenshot! I realize how much work is to prepare a mock-up screenshot that some of you upload here.
Thanks,
Attila

Thanks,

It explains very often at a glance what may sometimes need many words or it actually helps a lot. And with our graphical tools (some excellent of them are even free) it's so easy...

Attila,
I'm not sure is this is an FR or a bug.
When stopping play of phrase before the end of a phrase, most often I get hanging notes when using MIDI over LAN.
If when pressing stop, we need a "All notes off" sent. This is the reason I am not sure if an FR or bug.
Is RC sending this message when stop is pressed? I looked at the settings tabs and cannot find a "Send All Notes Off when Play Stops". I could have sworn this was there at one time. Perhaps I'm thinking of BIAB.
Please let me know if I should post this to Bugs thread.
Thanks very much!
Happy Musiking!

I see this weird behavior since my first version (which was 2.54) but I thought it had been mentioned...dsan@mail.com wrote:Attila,

Hi BlackWinny,
TBH I don't remember having an issue before now but it could be I just never ran across it before. It may just be how I am working on this project that brought it to my attention.
Hope you are well

Hello Denis!
Hihi, he probably doesn't send a general MIDI CC 120 and 121!

And for my part, I ran across it as early as the first demoes I did before I bought RC. And immediately I thought:dsan@mail.com wrote:Hi BlackWinny,

Hi dsan,
I am pretty sure that 'All Notes Off' is sent when you stop playback for a MIDI track. I have just checked it and dumped the messages and it was there. At the moment it is a mystery to me why some people experience hanging notes. Does this always happen? Did you try this with a local MIDI device rather than through the network?
Thanks, and sorry

For my part, here all is local on the same Windows computer. And it always happens. And for whichever the VST instruments and in my two DAWS (Mulab 5.5.2 and Reaper 4.61). Not a drama but quite disturbing sometimes, simply...musicdevelopments wrote:Hi dsan,

Ah... I haven't noticed if it happens also in the 64 bit edition of RC... I use it rarely in the step of composition, mainly in the step of recording... so it's perhaps the reason why I haven't that in mind at the present. I'm gonna try...

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
It appears not to be a problem with RC, rather a score program, NOTION 4.
I performed some additional tests, which admittedly I should have done before posting, and RC is sending Notes Off when play is stopped. Sonar X2, Live 9, Studio One 2 and Bitwig all do not have a problem when stopping play in the middle of a phrase.
Every once in a while I get a stuck note in one of those programs; however, the "Panic" switch of RC generally takes care of the problem.
NOTION 4 on the other hand does have an issue, which, unfortunately, I cannot resolve. It is also causing some problems with rptMIDI over the LAN.
I may have to abandon using it.
Technology - GREAT stuff - WHEN it works
Thanks again!
Happy Musiking!

Maybe not a feature request per se as much as a tutorial and workflow request. The tutorials are very good that we have, but there are a couple of problems. I want to also mention that if it weren't for the tutorials I never would have purchased this product. So they have been incredibly useful and important.
1. It's a constantly evolving product. So things change a bit.
2. Chris' videos are very good, but in my opinion contain a lot of extra unimportant information. Same thing with the written manual. I don't need to know an example of your favorite VST, and there are many things in the video that are simply unimportant and extraneous to the user. So the videos really need to be a lot shorter and to the point. Maybe half as short because a lot of it is monologue things that any user doesn't care about and has nothing to do with actual features. Time is important, and people clicking on these videos are only interested in how to do things, and nothing else. Please keep that in mind. The videos at groove3.com are an example of genius in simplicity. Again, I know it's an ever evolving product and the videos are invaluable.
3. Somehow things need to be easier. I guess things are supposed to get massively better in 2.0, but the workflow is still incredibly convoluted. Things need to be more intuitive and clever. I don't know how, I just know the interface is still sloppy in my opinion.
So, I know these criticisms are annoying, but just an honest opinion. I love the product and am happy that things are moving along at a good pace, but there is still a lot that can be improved. Maybe others have workflow improvement ideas. All in all, thanks for a great product. I am really happy for this as it has helped me think in different ways and create things I otherwise wouldn't have.

Thanks for your opinion. Groove3 tutorials are indeed amazing, but they are a professional tutorial-making company. I am a music teacher/songwriter/YouTube hobbyist. I happen to enjoy the product and its uniqueness, and have communicated a lot with Attila, regarding the program's development, etc. He's just one guy, and I am another. I apologize if the tutorials aren't up to professional standards, but again, they are a professional tutorial-making company, and I'm just a dude in his bedroom with a headset mic, doing my best. For the record, the tutorials are heavily edited... because I know I ramble on about it. If I didn't edit, they'd be 30 minutes long instead of 15.
I think the program is very easy to use, now... it used to not be. I would recommend playing with the program as often as you can, using the keyboard shortcuts, and getting used to the workflow. When I haven't used RC in a while, sometimes it confuses me, and I have to re-familiarize myself with the workflow. The more I use it, the easier it gets... same with anything.. Reaper. Ableton Live, etc.
I'll try to do better with the next few tutorials. Maybe groove3 could hire Kenny G. to narrate/do an RC tutorial set (I'm sure they'd charge a lot for their services). But I agree, they are the best.
Thanks again... and I'm glad the tutorials were helpful to you, and helped you in your decision to purchase RC. That was my goal.. to shed some light on this amazing program, and to also help Attila get some more customers, because truly, the software is absolutely groundbreaking.
