Screw these suits whose job it is to redesign sites like Youtube and Soundcloud. They always mess it up for everyone, and they probably get paid handsomely for the favour. Face it, website-layout-screwer-arounder - your job just exists to give you money!

I enjoy Facebook. I am connected to a number of fantastic musicians and artists I would not be otherwise. I've even had people I was major fans of request me on it. It brings the world I want to participate in right to me. There is a kind of international avant-garde mafia going on and I'm happy to be in some club. And it means more Russians have a chance to steal my work and be good communists about sharing, always a plus.
Myspace always seemed very noisy to me, visually horrendous most of the time. I don't know, I didn't use the internet at all until ~2003.
I never warmed up to Soundcloud. I can make some things to where the 128kbps doesn't kill it, coincidentally really through choices I make and a certain paranoia about bass, but I'm not into mastering for that kind of file. The changes make it so annoying to me I'm done with it. To make it really work kind of means paying for it, and no, I'm not going to pay for that quality a stream at all. Not just a matter of being broke either. It's hard to look at to begin with.

I canceled my pro subscription the day they announced Classic was going away. I hope others do the same.
The thing that bothers me is 1) The waveform no longer shows long or nested comments, thus eliminating all meaningful interaction around the music itself. This one stroke killed the single most compelling feature of SC. 2) they never seemed to listen to the primary issues people had, such as the low quality of the stream.
I'd love to see someone else bring nested comments on waveforms. It's an unequalled way to brainstorm and collaborate ideas around sound.

How about Youtube? It's the first port of call when people search for music, it has excellent audio quality (provided you upload with uncompressed sound, ideally at 720p+, but 360p still slays Soundcloud), great brand recognition, easy to share, ultra-detailed stats up the wazoo. All for free.

But they are some stumbling bumbling bastards....
My Pro sub just ran out a couple weeks ago, and it is going to be very hard to willingly hand them money with the shit show they are running...
But, I dont know of an alternative that is even close.
All things considered, SC is still easily the king.

I was trying to listen to some music cafe songs, and on my connection it simply cannot be done. Flashgot extension is blocking the streaming songs, and most of the time the page doesn't fully load at all.
