hardware problems

Hey guys im new here and im hoping if you could help me out....by the way, any aussies out there??

Anyway to the point. Im using fruity loops to produce my music, and yeah im very damn happy with it. but one problem.

I just got a new laptop its got a 40gb hard drive 3.2ghz processor, 1gig ram, 4200rpm. Now when im in fruity loops and using alot of effects it seems like the ol laptop is having a bit of trouble because it plays back with crackling in the speakers or whatever im hookep up to?? it sounds like it doesn't have enough power to cope...

Can anyone give me any hints on how to overcome this or what to do??

increase buffer size in audio preferences until it sounds proper.

Thank you sooooo much dude. thats awesome, i must've missed that about 5000 times, i've adjusted the audio settings so much and i didn't even touch that, now it works, thanks mate.
