Im now watching a program about 'how to win eurovision' :hihi:

James Martin advised us to look out for the "Hamster Wheel" on Saturday Kitchen earlier today. I'm hoping for some oddball psychedelia later.

I have a love/hate relationship to it. On the one hand it's just this huge bad-taste fest I can't take seriously, one the other, one of the too few genuinely pan-european (popular) culture events ...

A few people are predicting that the UK will get some points on the board tonight :o

I keep wondering why the motherland of pop music doesn't send its elite into this. But then again, taken in context, the question probably answers itself.... :hihi:

That said, i think Morrissey was ready to partake a few years back and was somehow ousted.

Post

.......ummm, Bonnie, Engelbert...I think they were our elite

Post

yeah true! I forgot about those 'golden age' contests I think. Was talking more about the more recent events.

There definitely was a time in the 60s/70s when standards were actually quite high and the whole thing was taken more seriously. (also: ABBA, etc..)

Votes are political. We could send Robbie Williams or One Dimension and still wouldnt win.

I watch it for a laugh, not to hear great songs :hihi:

I watch it for the cheese  ....speaking of which.....

Post

The hamster was a massive let-down.

The second song is called cheesecake. How weird is that :o

Post

The first song wasnt bad, pretty normal for EV.

Cheesecake was dull....

Post

Tick Tock was a bit of a letdown for me when I discovered after the first verse that it wasn't a new Kate Bush but a half assed Shakira rip-off.

Cheesecake was just dated RnB-pop!

Iceland sounds like a potential classic earworm in the making. Not ba-ba-ba-bad!
