We have updated Discovery Pro to Release 6.3.

Image
What's new
  • Multi-size GUI
We have rewritten Discovery Pro graphics engine and is now configurable in three window sizes: 1x (400p), 1.5x (600p) and 2x (800p). No more squinting when trying to look at some parameter or search for a led anymore! Of course CPU has been dramatically optimised at any configuration.
  • Linux support
DAW software like Bitwig or Renoise has been getting better and better at a very fast rate lately. Since R6.3, Discovery Pro is committed to support the progressively popular OS amongst musicians in 32 and 64-bit flavours.
  • Major internal structure re-write and clean up.
  • Revised manual, banks and help files.
6.3 is a free update for 6.x customers. Updating from Release 5 and below costs 29 EUR and for a limited time Discovery (non Pro) owners can cross grade for 59 EUR. All these options are available at discoDSP Members Area.

Post

any plans for a similar gui revamp for corona?

Post

Hopefully Corona will get multi-size GUI soon including some surprises :)

Post

Nice update, thank you.
i'm wishing Vertigo could get an update too (and a graphical lifting). It is an amazing synth.

Post

Yes, Vertigo really needs an update! I'd like to see that happen this year but it depends of other factors.

Good news for linux users, who are a dollar short
on native linux vsts, and wav/soundfont import
in a standalone can be routed with qjackctl, so hosting them
in Discovery won't require a degree in linuxsampler.
The Pro version will fill some voids, and nicely compliment
the current native linux selection.
Cheers

Post

I really like the new GUI version. Does the regular Discovery get this treatment at some point too?

Post

Thanks! Regular Discovery GUI is likely to stay as it is.

Post

Nice! On a 13 inch screen notebook, maybe a 1.2 resize would be nice ;)

Thank you for this awesome synth. :)

Post

Ideally being able to resize from 1.0-9 to 2.0 could have been nice but using a hi-quality downscaling algorithm results in a CPU hit. The best compromise was doing 3 sizes using pre-rendered bitmaps to get the least CPU consumption possible once GUI is open.

It was no easy task. 6.3 took weeks and full rewrite for non-DSP parts. Fortunately has been worth it and also makes possible to get VST3 and AAX support on the future :)

Cheers!

Financial solvency and KVR Mix as well as oil and water.

Great news. But I can't run it on my opensuse 13.1 x86_64 with any plugin host (Carla, Renoise, EnergyXT, Qtractor). Program freezes on attempt to initialize plugin.

It could be related to discoDSP data folder not being located correctly. It has been tested with Ubuntu 12.04 and 14.04 and works as expected. Please check it's at ~/Documents.

That's it. It searches in XDG_DOCUMENTS_DIR, which is not ~/Documents on my system. Now i fixed it.
Thank You!
