Hate is toxic and haters are weak...sad that they want to destroy KvR when it's such a great community...the one good thing from these threads is I see more people standing up against hate. The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Ok, suppose you are the topic of discussion somewhere and people are saying mean things about you, not even related to your music. Then you will stay calm and play it nice?
I think all in all, given the things that were being written (e.g. "... the OP is smitten by her t*ts..." wtf??? why would someone preorder an album for those, to hear them??? :) ), Kitty's replies were quite modest.

This thread seems to be trolled by 12 year olds atm, not mature people having a musician worthy discussion. Music should unite musicians, but there's so much hate and negativity here.

I have had my music quite bashed here, by someone that didn't understand it, or by someone that was quite jealous. Yeah, I'll mix it up, as the context was KVR. The context for this childish exercise of a popularity contest, a high school talent show writ large, yet in search of 'fame and fortune' and an industry contract is something else entirely. IE: I'm not trying to be an industry phenomenon, if I were I think this may not be the place to become defensive and insult people.

As far as the actual statement, she ought to know better than to come here and be defensive, I think you want to take it up with Debra. I don't know what one should do. I'm inclined to see the sense of that, as was 'robojam'. As to the music, I think she's a cover artist and I don't have a lot to say about this pop sort of content, I'm not a music critic like that. I think my comments can be seen as constructive.

See, you don't know me. I come from a world where you want to be criticized. I went way out of my way in life to get to be criticized; for every move, rather than coddled. I think this singer has not done, I think she's hearing people at clubs that want to f**k her telling her bullshit and none the wiser.

See if you can purchase a sense of humor. She has a great rack, doesn't she?

You aren't really a part of the community and you've taken an opportunity to be argumentative about this thing, which isn't really of moment to me, I'm just someone on the internet with an opinion you disagree with. If her comments were modest, mine were, as far as I'm concerned. Debra kind of went at her a bit .
(For me the really mean thing done here was Hink in a continuation of his obnoxious campaign to show himself as better than people. I don't hate a person like that, I don't hate her performance, I said something I thought was true about it. Sue me.)

I think this place is not a good fit for you.

You're such a gigantic hypocrite. What are you doing with these remarks? No one can ever do anything but coddle someone in music or they are a bad person is the constant message you are pushing, OVER AND OVER again, in service of a display of your moral superiority. Of course you trawled for yet another spot to do it, and this context-free diss was just the moment wasn't it.

My name is Jan Civil. I hide behind nothing. I am not a hater, you're a dry hater, you do it all the f**king time. You're telling people what they are, rather than address the actual comments. It's in clear violation of the spirit of the rules here. BUT! You hide behind 'I didn't direct this at you', you've done it a number of times with me, and you insult the intelligence by denying it. I suppose you think you're covered by that as per the rules. You're passive aggressive in the worst way and you saying 'coward' to anyone is to me a great joke.

I don't see what's wrong with Hink's comment, apart from not being a direct response to someone.
I don't know him, so maybe there is a history between both of you that I don't know about. Maybe he has a history I don't know about.

What he says is generally correct though, because the level of hate/meanness in this thread is quite high. And hating is really in fashion nowadays, it so easy with the anonymity of the internet.

If someone posts on a forum like this, then yes, criticism is to be expected. And that's not a bad thing. But just plain meanness should not be part of such a community.

Not gonna support her album - I'm a cheap bastard and even the one time a label paid to record me in a "real" studio I asked why I can't just record my parts at home with the equipment I got. And hate's fine and very useful, though most of mine gets used up on people I actually have to deal with in real life.

But I do like entertaining, over-the-top nutcases, so I hope Kitty gets the success she's looking for.

Now that's comedy.

Why? What "Hink" is saying is that people are haters. I can hate what somebody says, I can find things to be false, I can state my problems with statements. I don't even quite hate 'Hink', yet I think if he's going to do this some pushback isn't out of line.

So you find it appropriate to join him in telling people what people are. (I'm lying am I? I think I can safely say "I'm not a hater". I hate the right wing, I hate the bad ideas, I think Hitler is worth being 'hated' but I don't have the energy to be that invested in any person here. YMMV.)

It's against the rules to do it. I don't think John Hinckley is a bad person. I would tend to say he's working through some issues and using the forum to do it. I would really rather not remark on that but he, in my view, has really used up some space with this haters shite. I would really like to 'ignore' his posts at this point but that is not possible due to his status as moderator. I think that should end.

What hate? Which people do you really believe hate Ms Diva here? I think a couple of people were harder on her than I was. Are people gigantic pussies where you come from? It's show business, people knock other people.
This forum does have a history and there is a context you step into. There is context of people promoting someone like they were 'really something special' and the guy tormented that issue months later after getting some resistance. To someone that was not at all special. There are a lot of people that have really sacrificed and really done some woodshedding that might hang out in such a place. This girl may have talent, but she is not performing tip top, I'm sorry if that disillusions you.

"and Katy Perry sucks live". Who cares? Sarah Vaughan didn't suck live. When I was at school, the singers there never sucked live, they f**king brought it. When I met Ella Fitzgerald she was 76. Not only did she not suck, she was golden. And she came over to ask after me, the little person that drove the truck and schlepped the harp in and that.
GROW UP. Is that mean? Well, you came in here with no particular thought as to where you were to talk about something a lot of us find really SCHLOCKY.
This does not mean I hate you. You're of no moment to me. This is a forum which means people can talk about their ideas of a thing.

As to what I would do if my music were "bashed", well, I write all of my own music. I do not have a producer, I make every note of it myself, I'm the conductor, the orchestra, the mix engineer, every last detail is down to me. I lost any notion of being famous or doing music to place myself or satisfy a mass audience around high school age. This isn't about me, I do not reside in this context at_all. I think if I wanted to be a pop star, KVR would not be a very loud blip on my radar.
So how does this Ms Diva know about KVR? You're her shill, right? Well, in all sincerity I hope she gets what she wants. I do think she has dues to pay, regardless of the 'grotty' clubs and that whole story, one needs to be able to take criticism and not freak. Train your voice to be a more reliable instrument and you'll know that no one can say 'you suck' and it mean a thing. 'Self-belief', well a lot of people delude themselves.

You're as bad as her if you think that every time someone says something other than what you would like to hear that you should start name calling.

It's not really subjective opinion that her pitching is not good - we can all hear it is not. The criticism is objective in that respect, and it's not going to change anything by boo hooing and suggesting that people are 12 years old.

Oh, and if you think that musicians are mature people, you have more to learn about the business than she does... :hihi:

Post

I think the OP may be influenced by her boobs. I know I am still thinking about them.
I may seem 12 for that, but I think that's not where the true immaturity in this thread is found tbh. :D

Post

I don't find the concept of calling out someone for being "immature" particularly useful as it really doesn't define anything other than some vague, personal thoughts on how much one should conform to vaguely defined standards of behavior. The pouting response of "immature" in discussions by those who seem to feel that they have found some kind of closure and justification from it just makes me feel like it's some sort of crutch to them when everything gets too much.

I'll drop the nutcase remark because I don't know you (to be honest, being a bit of a nutcase is not really a bad thing in my opinion), but I won't change my mind on your vocal abilities. I did listen to Chains. There are many people who can sing like that -and better- and who will never make it.

And if you really had that much self-believe, you wouldn't be here trying to defend yourself.

I don't wish you any bad at all. You can go on an proof everyone wrong what I'm concerned. An act like yours just leaves me cold.

No offense. This is a forum and people give their opinion.

Indeed. The true immaturity is in not properly saying 'Hello'.

So. Hello Kitty.
